Unique place to go in Panchgani.

There is tiger cave and lion cave. Either you can go to tiger cave from top of the tableland or from the lion cave to tiger cave amidst the scenery. Its a short walk.

There is small eatery at both the caves. Inside the tiger cave there is a small temple underground again less than 1 minutes.

It was a nice experience. Its cool inside the caves. Can order and sit inside the caves. Interesting experience.

On the tableland you can hire a horse cart for very short sightseeing points. They are regulated and better than hiring single horses for the family.

If you dont mind walking no need to hire anything. Just walk it out. It may take 1-2hrs walking and sightseeing.

Adequate toilet facilities are not there. Paid toilets near restaurants and not too good.

Wear a cap as its open area.

Table Land:
One of Asia's greatest mountain-top flatlands is Table Land, a 98-acre flat plateau that forms Panchgani's highest point. Mahabaleshwar, which is only a few kilometers distant, also boasts two flat areas, but neither is as large or as open as Panchgani's Table Land. Table Land offers unhindered sunrise and sunset views, sweeping valley views, and endless views of the beautiful fir trees.

Table Land is a popular Bollywood shooting spot. Many movies like Raja Hindustani, Mela, Taare Zameen Par, and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam are shot at this place. It is just walkable from the main Panchgani Market, but even though there is a proper motorable road, it is a steep climb.

Table land area has 5 points in total viz Table land, Shooting Point, Pandava's Footprints, Devil's Kitchen and One Tree Point.

To be honest it is just a flat land and dirt! Nothing else!

Also known as Asia Plateau, the Table Top is the second largest plateau in Asia after the Tibetan plateau. Over the years nothing has changed around the area. The old shops line the pathway that leads to the table top. One can choose to walk or choose your option between a horse ride or a horse buggy ride. The horse buggy costs Rs. 600 for 4 people and will take you to 3-4 points around the table top. There's a cave at one end of the plateau but the buggies are not allowed there. Only if you choose to ride a horse. Many Bollywood movies have been picturised here and the horse buggy rider will tell you the name of the movies. There are the Pandavas footsteps embossed in the plateau. And a cave that's called the Devil's Kitchen. If you fancy to get your face or hand read and know your future then there are face/hand readers who will approach you. Or have an icecream cone while the sun beats down with cool wind blowing... There's ample of free parking space so no worries about that. Overall, a great place to spend some time. The best time ofcourse, will be the Sunrise and Sunset!

Never go here.Sheer waste of time.
There is no safety as the entire area is not fenced.
Nothing to experience other than horse riding.

Large expanse of land with beautiful views. If visiting in cooler months in mornings and evenings, and healthy, please consider taking an hour or 90 minutes walk. We went around 10 am in May and though the sun was onto us the breeze was cool almost towards the end till 11:30 am. We took the horse ride. We had a local guide for the day long trip but he got us on the horses and the horse guide took over. They don't tell you the charges at the start.. Neither did I insist to know there, I went with the flow. When we reached from the parking area to the start of table land we were given an idea of what would he shown, a long trip entailing almost all stops costing approx 3k and a shorter one around 30 minutes costing 1.6k. I later checked tripnadvisor and found warnings all over about these fake charges. I hope others check before going and avoid getting duped. Bargain hard to something around 1000 rs for the complete ride. Ask if they will stop and accompany as per your wish and where you would be dropped back. Get ther terms absolutely cleared
We were told that The horse guide would be there with us throughout and get us down and show both caves on the way. The horse guides are probably needed to point out the Sydney point, harrisons folly etc that can be seen from the table. Rest talk is all dedicated to which movie was shot where which we were least bothered about. They dropped us off at the shiva cave and asked us to go ourselves and to walk back to the parking area.
The horses are well trained and the ride is long and good. The place is beautiful on May. I can only imagine how heavenly it would be post monsoons. The tiger cave and shiva temple cave are okay. If you chose to walk you can take a break and eat at the dine ins there..

A place where wind flows without any boundaries. Great quality of oxygen. Ideal to visit in the evening with sun set beauty.
The cave below is okay place to visit once if you visit there. Nothing great. The stairs taking you to the cave are quite old and dangerous.
A flock of many monkeys will entertain you with their hunting for food.

PLEASE READ THIS IF GOING FOR HORSE RIDING

When you go at table land for horse riding, they will quote 1280 for 4 points and 2500 for 8-9 points. Ignore that. Its all scripted speech.

Make sure you haggle and bargain strongly. Horse ride not worth more than 700 for 4 spots and 1200 for all spots. They will show funny looking silly laminated cards with price printed on it just to make it look formal. Just don't give in. Bargain hard. They will eventually agree. If you get horse for under 700(one horse), then you will enjoy going around table top because on foot it can get tiring and hourse ride is worth it at that price.

If you pay full price, you will feel cheated or over-charged and may not fully appreciate and enjoy horse ride because they may say 3 hours but they'll finish far quickly then you would expect. Many spots shown from distance.

So this is kind warning and reminder to everyone. They may give all non-sense reasons, just ignore and stick to your price - 700(4 spots) and 1100(all spots) per horse

I lost my wallet here because we hired a buggy but because of uneven surface it was bouncing like anything and during that time only my wallet fell down or someone might have 'stolen' at the entrance itself.

The next day my father visited atop tableland in search of my wallet but he couldn't find anything.

My wallet had my HDFC ATM debit card, INR 2500 /- and my two wheeler driving licence.

I immediately 'blocked' my ATM debit card using HDFC bank's app as a precautionary measure.

I would advise fellow travellers on this nature's marvel 'tableland' to be extremely very careful while strolling around because this area is always dominated by horse mafia's and thieves.

Thanks
