Budget Taj Mahal
May 2020
An interesting site, apparently the ruler tried to replicate the wonderful and original Taj Mahal and the plan gone wrong due to various reasons including lack of funds. If you can't afford to visit the original, this is your best next chance

Replica of Taj mahal, but not maintained properly as Taj mahal in Agra. Beautiful garden and ambience ..

Need to give importance to the historical places in terms of maintanance and renovation

There are lot of reviews which describes about the origin of Bibi Ka Maqbara and thus I will not dwell into it in my review. However, as this magnificent structure has resemblance to the Taj Mahal thus there is no doubt it is the "Taj of Deccan”. There is a designated Pay and park ground about 50 metres from the Masouleum. The charge was lesser than what we end up paying to enter any malls in our Metro cities and thus I did not mind.

As you walk towards the main gate you can find a few spots from where you can take a few snaps. The ticket counter is almost there but I preferred to book it online through the ASI site. Just a word of caution that its not quite mobile friendly thus better to book it through a laptop/ desktop. The current ticket cost is just Rs 20/- I was quite surprised and elated to find that at the gate there is a turnstile and a QR code scanner. Thus if you buy the ticket from the counter they do provide you a chip. During the pandemic I am actually quite proud that such innovative measures are taken to reduce human contacts as well usage of paper.

As you enter there will be some folks who will warn you against official guides and would be more than willing to help you for a small fees of Rs 200/- against the official guide which they claim charges Rs 1800/-.My recommendation is that if you really want to know take a guidebook and go. However, guides will do provide certain insights about certain structure, carving etc which would not be present in a guide book. But these people who asks you to avoid guides will speak for 5 mins, help you take pictures and then leave as they are not allowed inside. Unfortunately for most tourists they don’t provide this valuable piece of information at the begining

If you have been to the Taj Mahal, I think you will agree with me that as you enter the first gate and get a glimpse of the Taj our mouths gets opened up in awe. Trust me nothing like that will happen here. Not taking the credit away this still is a great architecture marvel and will provide you enough instance to like and take pictures for your Instagram post. In fact in the back side of the Maqbara there is a wonderful views of mountains which is an amazing panorama for photo lovers.

It will take you about 1 to 1 -1/2 hours to complete the tour of the Maqbara in leisure. Try and visit in the morning hours as the midday sun can be quite hot especially in the summers. I would recommend not to miss it if you are in Aurangabad

Out of the entire Bibi ka Maqbara, now only 45% area is accessible for public. Rest of the area is restricted. Because of which the platform gets crowded. Photography via DSLR not allowed in gardens & restricted areas, as conveyed by guard at entrance after we bought the tickets. Also I've observed guards seems to be rude with public

Good place to visit in Aurangabad
Feb 2021
Autos charge Rs 80 from Aurangabad railway station to Bibi ka Maqbara. Occasionally we get share autos from Aurangabad railway station to Bibi ka maqbara which charges Rs 40 per person.

Reached there at about 5:30 Pm and it was very crowded. Had taken tickets which costed us Rs 20 per person(For Indian Nationals) through ASI website which saved us time of standing in queue to get tickets.

This is a small replica of Taj Mahal. It has its own beauty but please dont compare Bibi Ka Maqbara with Taj mahal . Bibi ka maqbara is not maintained properly but at present renovation work is going on. Keep about 20-30 minutes for visiting this place and i will recommend to visit this place in evening to avoid heat during day time. There is a small garden near the entrance where families can be seen relaxing.

A good place to visit while in Aurangabad .

A beautiful evening
Feb 2021 • Couples
The monument is a very close resemblance to the Taj as it is written in our history books. It is crowded, and even during covid times it was filled with people. However definitely It has a serene beauty to it.
The lines to buy the entry ticket were long and the QR code to buy tickets wasn't working, but one could go the asi website and buy tickets though the process was irksome

Bibi Ka Maqbara - mini version of Taj Mahal in Agra but not as exclusive as the Taj.
Most of the parts in this sight were shut (not sure if it was due to covid).
Purchase ticket online if possible.
Be careful if travelling with small kids as the fence inside the maqbara is quite low & kids may fall off if they lean down.

Not a brilliant copy of Taj but yet a nice memorial to visit. The art work on wall is amazingly beautiful and probably the inspiration for the hemroo silk

Bibi Ka Maqbara - Poor Man's Taj Mahal
Dec 2020
The burial place of Aurangzeb's wife, Bibi ka Maqbara was built in 1679 CE by Aurangzeb's son, in the memory of his mother, Rabia-Durrani.
This is just a replica of Taj Mahal ,it is framed by four lofty minarets that stand at the corners of the terrace, while their part-octagonal bases continuing down to ground level. However, there is no use of semi-precious stones, the major detail in which it differs from the Taj Mahal, giving it its colloquial name - "the poor man's Taj Mahal".

There is ample parking area , in night light is dim . inside the dome photography is not allowed . Entry fee is 20INR per head for Indian nationals , INR 100 for foreign national.
