Just a step outside the campus you are in the middle of hustle of Engineering college, Medical college MBA colleges and the hoards of students and chaos. You step in and there is a different world altogether ! Clean, serene, artfully created campus with a true ambiance of a Gurukul. Yet there is technology and state-of-the art lighting and sound systems in their auditoriums. I have see few performances there as well and you can see purist Odisi and Kathak performances. Great academy which has gone places, also internationally. Must go there and see some performances, and BTW they also have hostel facility for outstation disciples.

Talking about something close to ones heart and describing it in words is always a herculean task. Nevertheless, this is a small attempt to give tribute to MAHAGAMI, one of its own kinds of GURUKUL.
My first visit to Mahagami academy @ Aurangabad was with my mentor and dear friend Ravi Sir. Situated in nature’s laps, it’s a tranquil place which instills peace instantly as one sets foot here. Lotus flowers welcome you at the entrance of academy and the open stage in BLACK with seating arrangements around it look just picture perfect. One cannot forget the HUT in the centre of the place where we usually gathered for discussions, fun and food.
My purpose of visit at the academy was to work on a presentation for the academy. Though the computer aid / visual effects were provided by me but life in the presentation was put in by the person who actually is the life of the academy - Ms. Parwati Dutta.
A teacher, mentor & guide without her one cannot imagine the academy. She has given her life for dance and has built this academy where students not only learn dance but meaning of life too.
In IT during project deadlines one generally works 12 – 14 hrs & is used to stress, but the 3-4 days which I spent there I saw students breaking all my past records and still being so fresh and enjoying themselves thoroughly. One incident which I recall very vividly is the day when Parwati Ma’am called a photographer to have us photographed at work. We realized when he came back after a day we had not moved an inch and were still on the job with all the zeal and attentiveness.
The urge to give every bit of you to reach perfection was instilled in all of us by Parwati Ma’am as she led by example by not only taking classes, giving suggestions, overseeing things and travelling between Pune and Delhi without any break. I still remember how I overslept after all the hard work and missed my return bus; but everyone else was back to work the very next day at the academy.
Visits to the academy have almost been regular now and I go there not only to make presentations but also to meet this fantastic group of people. Every time we work hard to bring a different subject to life and come back with great learning’s and feeling of achievement.
My new record at work is now 120 hours at the stretch but still too small in front of what Parvati Ma’am puts in - 10 to 15 days working nonstop with a broken leg and high fever, and still ready to go on. Love for what you believe in, going that extra mile and passion are all qualities of one learns at Mahagami and I’m blessed to be part of this great institution.
