Good place to visit with Kids, but make sure to take a Cap/Hat, Glares, Water. We traveled by Ropeway & it was a good experience. One can even climb up & down by stairs. Going up takes average 1.5 hours & down is comparatively easier with average 45-50 mins. One big drawback is no Washroom facility on the fort. Washrooms... More

It was a group tour for us and before this most of us had never been to a fort. We decided and went. We got train from Mumbai (Diva and Panvel) and got down at Mangaon and from there, got a car (by a friend ) who dropped us to foothill of the Raigad fort which lies in Sahyadri mountain.... More

A must see location if you are a history buff or have followed Maratha's legendary battle forays with Mughals. Forts were the part of the Maratha's (Sivaji in Particular) battle with tyrannies of Mughals. Raigad gives us what was it like to build & maintain a fort. Though in ruins it do give us a lot of perspective on what... More

Why would any one visit a fort 800 m above the ground at a godforsaken place where there are no ambulance services, no emergency backup, no police, no decent restaurant and NO PUBLIC TOILET. I was heartbroken to see that we live in a country where electricity can be supplied continuously to run a ropeway at tourist destination as but... More

Since childhood, I always wanted to visit this place. Had imagined about this fort through many Shivaji Maharaj stories It was a great visit indeed. We climbed the fort and came down via Ropeway. It was a fun and fairly easy trek with well defined route, stairs and green shelter. To avoid heat, we started around 7.15 and reached Mahadarwaja... More

Its about 120kms away from Pune.We visited with friends and went up the fort by very basic, simple trek + ~1000 steps. I recommend this route if you are fit to climb ~1500 steps. The track reduces about 500 steps and is definitely worth it. The trek doesn't need any special skills or cloths. So, go for it if you... More

Raigad Fort is the capital of Maratha Empire constructed by the Great Shivaji. It has importance like pilgrimage for every Maharashtra citizen. It needs at least 3 hours to go up climbing 3,000 steps. Ropeway service is one more option with waiting time due to high demand.

The Fort is located at the top of Hill. You can take a walk of approx 2 hour or take ropeway. You will reach at the top in 10 min. We took ropeway, it will cost you Rs. 250 return journey. If you are travelling near Roha, Indupur - it is close to 2 hours journey. You can see Shivaj... More

Fort Raigad was the capital of Shivaji Maharaj The fort is located on top of a hill. Although the fort is in ruins presently, if still has a very high significance, historically and from the tourism point of view. There are Cable Cars or Ropeway which takes the visitor from base of the hill to the top of the fort... More
