One of the best beaches I have ever visited.
One of the best spots to enjoy the sea. I walked around a lot enjoying the sea view. Experience this early in the morning, it was very less crowded then and it was a great experience. Start walking from the south cliff entrance and walk through the cliff till the end. You will see cafes getting ready to open, to your right and a great sea view to your left. You should experience it.

Awesome vacation in varkala beach. Kerala, India.
Beautiful beach. Varkala beach is a hidden gem. Awesome cliff, views, unbelievable sunset, sky changes into different colours and designs. I haven't seen the sky changing like this anywhere else, especially during sunset. Clean beaches and not crowded during weekdays. Deep-sea sunset trip is life changing, you get to jump in the middle of the ocean with a life jacket. A trip to varkala beach and you will cherish it rest of your life.

    absolutely paradisiacal destination
I visited the place while i was riding from Delhi to Kanyakumari. The moment i saw this place, i fell in love. I came to stay for one day but ended up staying 5 days. The beach and the place have some vibes that attract people to stay and explore. The cafes are really nice here but i felt they are a little pricey. It's almost like a mini Goa. The waves are really high so one must be careful while dipping in the ocean. I enjoyed my stay completely and i would recommend everyone to come here and spend time.

    Amazing
It is a very beautiful beach, much safer and bigger than Kovalam beach. Our resort people suggested this beach to us and it's a must see. Water is crystal clear. View is amazing . There are so many cafés over cliff. Access may be little difficult for elderly people

Varkala Beach - A Coastal Paradise
Nestled beneath a stunning cliff, Varkala Beach offers a picturesque escape with a unique blend of tranquillity and adventure. The journey down the cliff reveals a pristine shoreline, perfect for water sports enthusiasts, one of the most happening and adventurous beaches of Kerala. Various water sports activities are available. Sometimes dolphins can be cited in the morning. Don't miss the floating bridges, a novel attraction for thrill-seekers, and other water activities at Rs 120. Beach Umbrella and resting chairs at available for 200 a day. The waves are good and you can also try surfing here there will be a surfing fest in Varkala from March 29 to March 31st. The cliff area is vibrant during the evening and especially at night. Experience the lively atmosphere along the cliff as the evening sets in, with shops, cafes, and the beach itself coming alive. Apart from the beach the market, the shops, spa, massages and cafes nearby are a great way to spend a good time. You can enjoy a peaceful, ideal for witnessing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. The beach offers a safe environment along most of the shoreline, with lifeguards and warning signs in place for areas with rough waves. Keep in mind that after 6:30/7 pm, there are no buses from there to the railway station, so you have to take autos. Varkala Beach is not just a destination; it's an adventure waiting to unfold. The clear blue waters, combined with the lively cliff atmosphere, make it a must-visit spot. Whether you're seeking excitement or tranquillity, this beach has it all. A perfect 10/10 recommendation, and a place worth revisiting.

    Lovely Beach in Kerala
Lovely white sand beach I've seen so far in Kerala. One can spend hours on the beach on swimming, water sports or just sitting quietly looking at the waves. Enjoy the view from the cliff and the food available there. Not very crowdy and you'll find many non Indians enjoying this place. Good place and you can plan for a day here.

Nice beach, sunbeds are on the expensive side.... coast guards struggle to contain the men leering and filming the tourist girls. Basically the guys will film/photograph anybody showing a cm of flesh... strange and creepy. Take food etc as none available on the beach

Visiting Varkarla was not what I expected. Lovely beaches littered with rubbish. There appears to be no rubbish pick up system for businesses and hotels so it is just thrown of the cliffs attracting dogs and birds to pick at the piles of rubbish.
Varkarla cliffs had many yoga studios, tattoo parlours, restaurants and shops catering to the tourists with the cliffs just full of rubbish. Such a depressing experience… I will not be recommending the place to anyone.

This is a lovely beach with good facilities. You can hire Sun loungers and parasols, and there is a life guard so you can swim safely. Tourists wear western style swimwear. Which brings me to the reason I’m not giving this beach a higher mark. Basically some men lose it when they see women in bikinis and covertly take photos of them by e.g. posing in front of them or being filmed walking past them. It feels sort of like up-skirting. Whilst women have chosen to wear their swimwear in public they do not wish to end up in some mens’ private photo collection. It really annoyed me and grossed me out. So I want to warn other women travellers to look out for this, be aware of what’s happening around you, and be prepared to move yourself. Ideally you’d put some sort of screen around yourself to stop this, but this may not be available.
