The St. Sebastian's church, Varkala is under the Latin Arch Diocese of Trivandrum and regular Holy Mass is being conducted here apart from the annual feast of St. Sebastian. The feast is a festival which is attended by thousands of people irrespective of caste, creed and terrain. We went to the church few days back too and the church building & parish hall and other buildings are of architectural excellence and situated in a vast compound. While we were in the church, saw several people offering prayers though it was not the Holy Mass time. The Church has become a pilgrim center attracting people from the nearby towns and there is no caste restriction in visiting the church.

It's is an awesome must go place, church situated in the banks of beautiful backwater, with a good green scenic view. Best time to visit is during the month of February the festival time (feast of St Sebastian), and during all the Christian's special days like Easter, Christmas, etc. Holy mass on all the days. During feast more thousands are visiting the church, feast procession is the main highlight, which is the largest procession (in terms of duration of about 12 hours) in Kerala. The church feast is a festival to all the people in nearby areas accompanied by shopping Festival,boating, games, stage shows like dance, drama, magic. Basic facilities like parking area, drinking water, toilet etc are available.
