The palace was undergoing renovation it was basically inaccessible other than admiring the exterior. The area is surrounded by a decent garden, but nothing you have not seen elsewhere. It's like a so-so photo stop but I wouldn't have visited if it wasn't located near to Napier Museum.

Family friendly around sunset and mostly mosquito free. Great place to relax, walk and enjoy the evening breezes as the sun sets over the city.

Awesome place to unwind. Evening time is more special. Should not be missed when in TVM. Just sit down in the park or stroll and relax.

Don't miss this place if you are a tourist. I have not been to this place even though a native to this city, until my wife took there last week.
Magnificent palace on a hill, with stepped gardens and walkways. A place of solitude, contemplation and peace. Inviting for all, young and old, desolate loners and lovers, groups of people passionately discussing current affairs.
The elegant, tall flag mast was missing its huge Tri colour flag this time.
There is a lot of shade trees and enough stone benches for e eeverybody.
Also a big open air auditorium- Nishagandi.

Another lovely & scenic place to spend a day or the evening. Its located near the Napier Museum & boasts of a beautiful digital garden. The palace itself was constructed by the Travancore Royal Family & was used by them to entertain their guests. It is now used as a popular venue to hold cultural performances.

Unlike other cities, Trivandrum offers its residents a multitude of places to de-stress and relax. And no other city in Kerala can boast of a beautiful palace surrounded by a well maintained greenery than Kanakakunnu palace. Be it a warm morning, a hot afternoon, a breezy evening or a cool night, this place is just the right space to relax after a hectic day. The Napier museum and the zoo is just on the other side of the road. The Government organizes various programs in the same venue. The Onam celebrations here is state sponsored and done with much pomp and show. So, if you are from Trivandrum, be proud of your little treasure. Because, its something others can only dream, but never have.

Kanakakunnu Palace gives you an essence of royal touch. The place is well maintained with beautiful garden. Great place to relax.Go to Kanakakunnu any day and you will find cultural programmes or exhibitions. Lots of space to sit and relax. Nothing much to see inside the palace. But the compound is beautiful.
This heritage monument and architectural marvel was used as a summer retreat by the Travancore kings, who also entertained their guests here. A great place to spend the day, especially during festive seasons or during the summer months when you can see lots to exhibitions one after the other. The palace is an historic heritage monument worth the visit.

Oh the charm of Trivandrum city.!! We tvmites can't think of a life without the museum and it's surroundings. Our childhood memories, let it be with parents or friends will be filled with this beauty. People who are born and brought up here will know how much our life is entwined with kanakakunnu. If it's Onam, kanakakunnu act as the state hub for the cultural extravaganza. If it's Christmas, go there to try out various food Mela and exhibitions. Evenings in museum used to be a staple thing in family before netflix took over 😅. Nothing can beat it, the comfort of any coffee house is not going to challenge it.
Just take your kid (or take yourself)have a peaceful walk, buy som popcorns, enjoy the beauty. 😁
