The lighthouse offers a lift up to the 8th floor, with stairs leading to the top after that. At the summit, visitors are treated to views of Kovalam Beach and the sea. Entry costs Rs 10 per adult and an additional Rs 10 for every mobile phone. Despite the narrow road leading to it, there's enough parking space. Plan for a 45-minute visit.

It's open from 10 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2 PM to 5 PM, but closed on Mondays. The lift goes only to the 2nd level. The final steps are steep and may not be suitable for older visitors. The lighthouse offers a mix of maritime history and scenic views, with well-kept grounds. Near Vizhinjam Fishing Harbor, it has informative displays on maritime navigation. Facilities include a food court and ample parking. A children's play area and musical fountain are under development. One can get a very beautiful view of the Kovalam Ocean and the Kovalam second Crescent half moon Beach from here. There is a way leading directly down towards the second Crescent Half Moon Beach and swimming here is very peaceful with less crowd. It's especially busy at sunset and on weekends.

Good view from the top. It's around 150-200 steps to climb and the elevator is available. The last few steps are through a monkey ladder. You will need to remove shoes outside. Please note the timing as it remains closed during 1230 pm and 2 pm.

The hotel over looks the ocean and we were hoping for a supper enjoying the sea view. This was not to be.
The one decent item on the menu was the buffalo wings.
The rest was very bad and poorly trained staff exacerbated the mess.
It would have been nice to have been given some napkins when consuming the buffalo wings.
The worst was yet to come.
We ordered a grilled red snapper. It was cooked on a hot plate. The only vegetable available was chip.
The chips arrived 45 minutes before the fish, they were edible.
The fish was a disaster. We were served with out a knife so we asked the waiter to prepare it. He cut it in four pieces.
This fish was dreadful with a capital D.
Desert was OK a scoop of ice cream.
Plenty of staff and no customers so no excuse for the service.

The views from here are great. Best place in Kovalam for pics etc.

The issue I see is the narrow final stairs to the top. A bottle neck and will cause long lines in the evening in weekends for sure.

We went in the afternoon just after the 1 hour lunch break which is from 1pm to 2pm.

Also finding a rickshaw/taxi there was tough so come in one and keep it.

Unfortunately we couldn't make it because the gates are closed at 5pm. Sunset is cool though from the beach at around 6:30.

I could see the light house from Kovalam beach itself. We hve to walk a little on the beach to reach it. There were rocks on the shore. The waves hit the rock and rises high like tsunami. Enjoyed seeing it.

The lighthouse and surrounding is well maintained and clean. Luckily, they have an elevator to take u near the top, but the last few steps are steep and can be tricky, especially coming down. So be careful. But the all around view was worth it - absolutely amazing. Enjoy!

This was our first visit to the lighthouse. The availability of lift helped us to reach a certain height, beyond which we had to climb a few steps, the last few ones vertical!!. However, the view from the lighthouse was worth the climb

Well maintained and must visit place in Trivandrum. You will get a bird's eye view of the kovalam and vizhinjam coastline. The light house compound has parking space, toilets and a cafeteria. We went at 12 noon and were worried that we would be fried under the Sun. However, once you are at the top you won't feel the heat as the wind is so strong and cool. The lighthouse has a lift till the second floor. However, you have to climb two more floors, the final one being a bit steep and so the elderly may face difficulties in climbing the final steep ladder. The view from the top is amazing. The light house compound also has a children's play ground which was not well maintained at the time of visit. The ticket rates are cheap. Two adults plus a still camera costed only Rs. 70/-.  You have to remove your footwear before entering the lighthouse. There is a place to deposit your footwear. There is ample parking space too.

If we go to the top of light house. You can see a marvelous view of the city but climbing the steps to reach the top is bit difficult.
