The owner is visibly very passionate about his garden, and does a decent job in explaining most of the spices/plants that he has, and we really enjoyed tasting random things that he offered. It added a lot of personal touch to the tour. He wasn't shy or hasty about letting us explore and ask questions or taste fruits growing in his garden, we loved that bit of the tour. However, the positives end here.
Post tour, we went to the store to buy spices and right away the whole vibe changes. The shop is run by some young guys who are quite cunning and rude. We found one salesperson who seemed nice/reasonable, and when asked about the exorbitant prices he casually mentions that those prices are for foreigners and that he would give us a better deal. We negotiated prices for some spices and they did shady things like go to the back room to weigh and pack the spices, and wouldn't let us keep an eye (we had heard horror stories of how some places switch to old/bad stock and didn't want to take any risk). Another guy joins later on, and realizes that we are NRIs, and immediately chastises our sales guy (in his local language) for negotiating too low and takes him out of the picture and sends someone else to deal with us, and they started to give excuses for why some products were now non-negotiable (even tho we had agreed previously) and that they couldn't speak Hindi (only English, Italian, German *eye roll* we had heard them talk in hindi too); yet another guy comes and pressures us to decide soon for other purchases and leave since other customers had watched us negotiate (including foreigners) and they didn't want others to follow suit. We really despise any place/store that sets separate prices for Indians vs foreigners and takes unfair advantage of tourists. We later went to the Thekkady market and were able to find spices at a reasonable rate, and would recommend you do the same instead of buying anything at this dishonest place.

So many spice places but chose Green Park from the reviews. We just turned up at 4.30 not knowing what to expect. Beni greeted us & after a little friendly chat mentioned he charges 100 rupees pp for his tour.
Took my husband & 22 year old son who have absolutely no interest in spices/natural remedies/cooking or plants. Both were very interested & impressed by Beni, his passion & his knowledge. Tasting the different fruits & the effect they had on each other once eaten was amazing. We passed his little shop on his tour (which we were not pushed into at all) I have no idea how his prices compare but he has a very friendly team working with him. I rarely purchase but I bought THE most delicious chocolate we have ever tasted & 2 vanilla pods! An interesting and thought provoking hour or so. Thank you

The Spice garden was an excellent place to visit. We came out better informed about spices and various unique plants. We were very disappointment with the spice store inside the garden. The prices were very exorbitant than regular market price .You can buy organic spices from reputed companies for much less cost.Stay away !!!
I think Mr Benny and Mr Thaju should look into it.

Great place to visit to see a sustainable environment. Ben was an amazing guide who has a wealth of knowledge passed down over many generations. You get to learn, see, taste, enjoy and think about the lessons learned. Truly great experience and highly recommended

We were looking to visit a spice plantation which was non commercial and less crowded. We came across Benny and his Green Park spice garden in Thekkady. Even though the area was not very big like other commercial plantations, the knowledge we got from Benny was simply amazing. It was almost like an in-depth botany class with so much information about Indian spices and ayurveda. Benny has hundreds of different types of spices, fruits, medicinal plants and even vegetables. Our kids enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a complete self sustainable farm.

This is by far the best spice plantation tour that you can take in Thekkady. Beni, the owner, is very passionate about his subject and we learnt a lot from him about how one can cure or treat almost any health problem with the use of different spices and plants. He also has a couple of tree houses where guests can stay that are connected by a hanging bridge on his property, where you can spend a night or two. There is a small spice shop where he keeps local wares but never pushes you to buy anything (which is not only nice but refreshing). This is a do-not-miss experience when you are in Thekkady. And ask him to show you his black hens and turkeys!

Walked from Kumily and arrived just in time to join a group tour. Excellent tour around the garden and exciting walk on the suspension bridge to finish. Very comprehensive information delivered with passion. The spice shop is a great place to stock up too.

Benny was a great guide, nice and interesting. He has lots of knowledge about all kinds of trees, plants and spices that he and his family grow themselves. The place was full of different kinds of plants we never see before. If you are interested in sustainable way of life, permaculture and plants, this is the place to go.

I chose this as my one spice & plant tour because it was organic and an environmentally sustainable farm. The owner/farmer Benny is 5th generation and has extensive knowledge of each plant and passionate about sharing. Students come there for hands on learning. well worth your time for sure. He has a small shop where you can purchase some fresh organic spices harvested there. I got a bottle of organic coconut oil that is wonderful.

I am not sure if they do have a website or not.
But Kerela is facing worst floods in over 40 years from last 20 days so i don't think it would be working at the moment.
But u can try contacting them form Justdial which is a digital yellow page for India.

You can visit this spice plantation. It is family run. People are nice and it would take you approx 1 hour to complete the tour if you are really interested and ask questions. They sell a spice assortment pack for Rs. 170 / pack as well but we bought multiple packs as gifts so probably got a discount.

it's a guided tour and it charges rs100 per head

Hi there!i am planning to visit this place with family very soon , is there any need of booking to just visit this place , what is the entry fees and timing?i am highly interested to visit this place.
Written 8 December 2016
Rs. 100 per head and the timing is from 10 00 to 17 30....Basically the guide lives there itself in the farm... Please be sure about the name and look for the location, else auto people shall fleece you to some other farms as there are many of that sort....

Give me a plan for going around various sight-seeing places in Thekkady. Can you please inform me about Taxi hire at Thekkady for 2-3 days?
Written 23 November 2016
It depends on what group of people you are..Whether you are coming with family or with friends?
Written 25 November 2016

Written 11 August 2015
