Nothing much exciting. If you have more time after Thekkady visit, visit here. a binocular is set there to see tamil nadu. Its Kerala Tamilnadu border. An old Kovil can be seen there. Thats why the name came, chellar kovil.

Located few kms before kumily. Its just a view point of the town and mountains. Just a km away is the Chellarkovil Waterfall which is a different experience as you will be standing on the edge or the starting point of waterfall. Nice experience.

A short drive by jeep, with "free massage".opened out onto this breathtaking view across villages and farms as far as the eye could see, to mountains rising again in the distance giving an incredible frame and perspective. Awesome.

This was terrible. Three hours of extremely bumpy Jeep ride with no point whatsoever. The view was the same you'd get on the main roads and the pot holes were beyond painful. Four months later my tailbone is still hurting.

One other small spot at Thekkady which offers a beautiful scenic view point. Preferred for family / Couples who wants to take some beautiful snapshots. Apart from the view, nothing much. Entry is free. No food stops nearby.

Around 10 + kms from the Thekady town, this is a place that can be visited for people who love views from a hill top. It is best to go on your own transport. The roads are also not that good. The view point offers a good view of Tamilnadu from the top. There is a watch tower at the entrance of the view point which is on a changeable basis. We instead took a small walk along a mud road right to the tip of the rock sat there and enjoyed the beauty for quite some time. There is also a view of a waterfall that drops into Tamil Nadu in steps. The front view can be seen if one takes the risk of going through some bushes and rough terrine. We started to do so but felt unsafe and re tracked. Before we enter the Chelarkovil view point a sharp turn on the right takes you right to the top of the waterfall and one can spend a lot of time on the grasslands adjacent to it and enjoy nature at its best. It was a little windy when we visited and the waterfall is also not a very safe place as there are no barricades etc. We need to take caution and not be over excited and land into trouble. The road leading to the waterfall is extremely steep and requires a skilled driver.

We visited this place on the jeep when it was raining and the entire place was cloudy. We did walk around the muddy water to go to the viewpoint but not much we could view.

This is a high spot around 30-40 mins from Thekkady from where you can see the Tamil Nadu landscape , cumbum and theni areas and the periyar range.
While the view is exciting there is anything more that I wish to write. The same spot has an ayurvedic garden..Now those reading this please ensure that you go to this garden. We spent nearly 2 hrs inside this garden thanks to biju Menon the caretaker of this garden who agreed to take us through and explain each tree/plant and it's medicinal properties.
I saw the Australian fig, the rudraksh tree, a Chinese lantern tree, Jamaican spices tree and many more that you don't get to see generally. The Chinese Lantern plant is a must see for I am sure you have never seen something like this.
Take time and go there is a lot of learning here. We enjoyed it and also collected some seeds that we will be planting in our home garden.

The view point marks the border mountains overlooking the plains of Tamil nadu. Amazing view from the top view station.

Recommended to go after mid mornings as the fog gets lifted up and the view becomes clear.

A small garden is there at the site where one can relax in the shades.

Very peaceful place. View is superb from watch tower which gives you to look at Tamil Nadu & kerala border. We had gone here during sunset time and it was the best view we had. There is a narrow lane going down further for more views but its unsafe for girls post 5 pm. Ofcourse, nature makes you feels so calm.
