If you are looking for a spiritual experience, this is one of three ancient Shiva temples in the Kottayam district. 30min driving from Taj Kumarakom. The hotel arranges a ‘Moksha Tour’ of the four temples - takes about 3hrs.
I understand that this gets quite crowded on a special festival day - not crowded when we visited.
Beautiful architecture.

Vaikom Mahadeva Temple is an ancient temple that exists since Treta Yuga when Lord Parashurama came down to this place.

An early morning darshan in this vast temple complex brings immense peace and tranquility.

Very old Siva shrine in Kerala. Heard that it would be nice if we can visit the three nearby Siva temples in a day - Ettumanoor, Kadathuruthy & Vaikkom. Fortunate enough, I could do that in one evening.
