A very popular spot in the city dotting the vast sea shore, has a long walkway along the waters, lined with multiple eating options on one side. The rainbow bridge is an added attraction for the visitors here. The place is heavily crowded on holidays and also has many boat operators thronging the walkway offering rides in the sea with many options including the sun set fare with dinner and music. Overall, the place is a very busy and popular spot definitely worth a visit while in kochi.

Marine Drive Kochi is a great place to relax and enjoy the evening with friends and family. It offers beautiful sunset views and is a bustling hub with ships. There's also a water metro station nearby. The area features a well-maintained walkway ideal for leisurely walks or watching the sunset. You can find a few shops serving ice cream, juices, shakes, and some delicious local cuisine. The nearby shopping complexes and restaurants cater to a range of tastes and budgets.
For those interested in boating, many travel boats are available. They charge 100 rupees per person for an hour-long ride. There's a parking fee of 40 rupees for private vehicles. This location is popular among both locals and tourists for its stunning views of the backwaters and Kochi harbour.
At night, the Rainbow Bridge is illuminated with vibrant lights, making it a sight worth seeing. The area tends to get crowded, especially during peak hours. Various Boat Rides are available:
Larger boats: Rs. 1200 per hour for eight people.
Smaller boats: Rs. 450 per hour.
Boating hours: 9 AM to 6 PM.
Luxury boats are available from 10 AM to 1 PM and from 2:30 PM to 6 PM.

Waterfront walkways are icons of many cities in the world. Like Thampa or Clarke Quay Marine Drive on the Vembanad lake side is still taking shape. Nearly 3 I'm walk way with shops, cafes and restaurants Marine Drive is the venue of events and activities in Kochi, the Queen of Arabian Sea. Due to the timely intervention of the High Court of Kerala, lot of transformation and developments are taking place to the picturesque lakefront. Good things are to come to make this the liveliest attraction of the city !

Newly developed area with an open gym constructed by the erstwhile local MLA who is now an MP, H Eden, a wonderful contribution to the society. Enjoyed the variety of exercising tools available. Must visit. But the pungent smell may disturb you enjoying the beauty of the birds in the vast water body.

Nice place where you can spend one evening with family. If you hav drawback e time you can enjoy a water metro ride in addition to the boat journey. View of sun set and a walk in sea shore by enjoying the cool Breeze from the sea will be a good experience to you . In week end the insufficient parking place is a drawback.

A great place to relax! A long pathway from the High Court Jetty to Childrens Park. Lot of chairs have been kept to spend time watching the back water and ships in the Kochi Port. Night view is suggested. Lot of shopping malls, restaurants and ice cream parlours and Tat Gateway hotel near it.

Marine drive is a traffic artery parallel to the river in Ernakulam. It is lined with hotels, banks, shopping centers and modern residential highrises at least at parts. It has a big city feel about it, but is not exachtly appealing. The Marine drive walkway along the river is.
Officially the walkway is called Abdul Kalam marg and starts near Bolgatty bridge in the north to end at the jetty near Subhash park further south. It is 2.3 km in length, right beside the waterfront. Often there is a breeze and the views over the estuary are great. The north part is still pretty much exposed to the sun, but further towards downtown Ernakulam there are shaderich trees. Small streams that flow into the estuary are bridged.
There are many options to join a boat trip or to rent a private boat. I just took the 6 Rupees ferry back to Fort Kochi.

It's beautiful and cool overlooking the shipyard the other side. You can go by ferry or small boats to the other side where you can see many historical places such as Jewish Synagogue and souvenir shops. Or you can go by road passing through the Navy base. The Marine walk is very popular among tourists and locals. Along the walk there are good restaurants and shops are there. Evening will be cool and serene.

Hi Amanda it is very easy to get a place of stay in Fort Kochi and there are many local eating places around. I normally prefer a home stay as it is cheap and comfortable.

What is the cost for boat ride for a family of 15 adults? What is the maximum time allowed in a single boat(3 to 4 hours). What are the places can be seen in the boat ride?
Written 11 October 2016
Cost around 100/- Rs per head on sharing basic, total 30 to 50 passengers allowed in one boat for 3 hrs trip (but boring) .. better take a individual boat cost around 3000/ to 4000/- Rs for 4 hrs you will have privacy & boat operator will show you different places like Paradesi Synagogue, Mattancherry Palace, kochi port & more... surly you will love it & don't go on weekend because crowed with local people..
