I booked a private houseboat tour on the website -- two hours on a traditional houseboat with lunch. What we got wasn't actually that. We were lucky and still had a lovely experience, which included a home visit with lunch (delicious!), a tour of the medicinal plants around the house, and a canoe ride on a small and dirty (but still quite pretty) canal. The guide and hosts were great. But this was not what we had been promised, so the itinerary was quite a surprise. I had even confirmed the night before, and there was no mention of a change in what was going to be offered. To their credit, the company refunded half the cost of the tour when I contacted them for an explanation about the uncommunicated change, so I will still recommend this company, with the caveat that you should get a very specific confirmation of your itinerary the day before (and make sure you ask if there are any changes to the description of the tour you booked).

Historic walk of Kochi on Dec 24, 2024, the 500th anniversary of the death of Vasco de Gama, here in Kochi. 🙏
We have had an excellent walk (2 hours) with a nice and professional guide.
We tour the historic landmarks of Fort Kochi and our guide is very knowledgeable so we have learned a lot of information about history of the city, its people and architecture. Lovely introduction to an historic city!
We had a personal issue to handle so we were to cancel the tour at the last minute but the organizer (Parveen) was nice enough to give us more time so we could handle our issue and then join the guide. A nice gesture of flexibility.

What a a wonderful trip! It was a most enjoyable experience.
We visited Kumarakom and Fort Kochi in January 2025.
The resort and hotel accommodation's were excellent and the services outstanding! The houseboat ride and the food offered on board was delicious. The villa at Kumarakom was comfortable with fabulous views of the Vembanad lake from all sides.
The guides and the drivers were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They patiently showed and explained all the tourist sites.
Every one of them spoke very good English and was easy to communicate.
Overall it was a great trip. Luxury at it's best!
Thanks again and looking forward to more trips with Magic tours!
We don't see a need to even try any other tour companies. Magic tours is the best!

The perfect experience to learn a little bit about the rich history and culture of Kochi. Try to do this early in your trip so that you can get recommendations for the rest of the trip from your guide. Mr. Sreekanth shared some great local food options and some tips to go around Kerala as well.

My friend and I spent a half day with Rajesh on a canoe around the backwaters. The drive from Cochin was comfortable and the driver professional. We started with a banana smoothie at a lovely house on the water before heading off in the canoe. Rajesh was very knowledgable about the area - both the environment and the history. He was full of interesting and funny stories. We hopped out of the canoe at various points to see some traditional crafts. The lunch at the end was fantastic - a variety of delicious curries and condiments. The owner of the house was a great host and chatted with us about Kerala/ Indian culture, teaching us a lot. A lovely and relaxing day that I would highly recommend.

My family recently spent 12 days holidaying in Kerala. Our tour was well organised and varied with many interesting activities and sights. Our driver, Ranjeet, was especially helpful. Aside from being very professional, he was friendly and considerate and really made our holiday one to remember. Thanks Ranjeet!
Kerala is a beautiful place to visit and our experience was very positive!

Dear Deepa,
Just a quick not to let you know what a fabulous day with had in Kochi today... George could not have been a better tour guide... we arrived a little early and when we got off the ship George and the boys were there to greet us...
The house boat trip was wonderful and our lunch was just yummy... the boys even made us some fried banana for desert... George and everyone on the house boat could not do enough for us an everyone on the tour came up to me said thankyou for organising such a great day...
We did do a little bit of a whirlwind tour of the fort area and George got us back in time as we told him we needed to be back at 5.30pm....

had a day tour booked from a cruise ship stop. Compared to the giant bus tours that the rest of the ship did, we loved our personalized day with Cochin Magic. Our guide was Santosh, a little quiet, but extremely helpful.
We got to the Dutch Palace before the rest of the masses and it was quite a gem. The synogogue is interesting- in any other city it would be passable, but the history here is unique. The walk around Fort Cochin was relaxing though felt a little underguided..but it was a good introduction to the area so we could later return on our own and check out things that we had wanted to see more of.
On one hand, the deal is great compared to the ship tours, but seems overpriced compared to just doing things on your own and figuring it out with a tuk-tuk

Our group of four booked with Magic for day tours in Cochin, Goa and Mangalore in April 2014. The pre-tour communication was responsive, detailed and excellent. Each of three guides and the itinerary were great - all were experienced, affable, conscientious and local residents. We saw many things we were not expecting and the guides were flexible and happy to alter our schedule on request or if needed (say, holiday closings).
I have dealt with many tour operators abroad over the years. Magic is one the very best firms I have had day tours with and would happily recommend them to anyone considering using them in India. They are very clear on the pricing and what is/is not included so there are no surprises and the quality of each of the guides provided exceeded our expectations.

As one of 22 passengers off of a cruise ship stopping in Cochin, we opted for this day-long visit that included the major sights of interest in the city and then the 90-minute drive southward for a houseboat ride with lunch. From the beginning when I contacted Ms. Deepa with this company, I found my questions and the procedure for the booking handled very well. I set up the tour, selecting it from the website, checking on availability, recruiting the participants, and finally clarifying inquiries about special needs (one of us was wheelchair-bound, and that was handled very nicely). Our guide, Rishi, is highly recommended; he has the right temperament to be a tourist guide and is very knowledgeable about the area. Although he encountered difficulty gaining admittance to the port that morning (the officials held him up) and we lost about 1/2 hour at the beginning, once underway everything ran very smoothly. The houseboat ride is not to be missed, as it is an experience very unique to the waterways of this part of the state of Kerala and to India!
