We went in time to see the artists putting on make up in preparation. It was interesting but seemed to go on a bit. The performance was certainly colourful and the eye movements have to be seen simply amazing. It's unique to the area so worth seeing.

The Kathakali performance, and the music the next night were one of the few activities I enjoyed in Cochin.

Interested and amazed at how good the actors were with the facial expressions and gestures. 1 hour to watch how the elaborate make-up were put on and next 1 hour on dance. Not too long until it get overly boring. Totally recommended.

We went to attend the 1hr30 part of the play. The narrator explained before the performance the signification of the facial and corporal expressions helped with a comedian. Really enjoyed this cultural experience

This is a 2 hour show that for the first hour is watching the actors apply their make up. Unfortunately there isn't an explanation or commentary on this bit or explanation about the face paint, so you just sit in relative silence watching 2 guys on stage apply heavy paint to the face. It might be better to have a... More

Personally not my cup of tea, i wanted to leave early but didnt want to be rude. The show is hard to understand and i found the music to give me a headache. If you like performing arts you may like this however I am not a big fan

This place has an array of cultural activities like Kathakali, Kalaripayattu (martial art of Kerala), Music festival and dance festival. If you are visiting Kerala don't forget to... More

The Kathakili show was amazing. We arrived early to see the actors become transformed into their characters with their makeup application. Then we watched a mesmerizing show of movement, emotion, and music. It was nothing like we had ever seen before! A very entertaining event!!

Kathakali is a basic art and it is great to experience it. The art of story illustration was well explained along with the makeup methods used in the show. It is the best experience I've seen.
