Went here the first night we arrived in Kochi. The staff were all very welcoming. I had never seen anything like this. The leader gave good explanations of the art and painting. The actors were incredible. The first demonstration of the range of emotions was amazing with great mastery. A totally talented group. Definitely worth seeing. The company have different... More

Enjoyed the space, the art, the make-up session & the actual performance. As mentioned in other comments, it could get a bit loud & cold if there are only a few folks in the audience, like it did during my off-season visit. It was totally worth the time & price.

On our last night in Fort Kochin we went along on suggestion of our hotel. We knew only that it was a traditional Indian dance show and nothing of the history of Kathikali. We arrived about half way through the make up session, which isn't essential to the understanding of the performance but is nonetheless fascinating. The actual play was... More

Centrally located and spacious But the methods are archaic and they are insistent on following old and boring procedure rather than make the delivery smart , relevant and classy for the modern tourist

Went last month to watch a Kathakali performance, the actual auditorium is located on the top floor of the building. It wasn't crowded when I was there but during peak season it could easily fill up as it's not too big. One of the fascinating parts of the performance is watching the makeup done beforehand which is very time taking... More

Enjoy the extraordinary beauty and magic of Ragas in the morning - we loved this most and visited several times. Even for children it is a special and unforgettable experience! Breathtaking!

The Kathakali is the traditional dance of Kerala based on Hindu literature and is danced by male actors. It is an experience you should definitely see when in Kerala. The only thing i didn't like about it was that it took them a lot of time to finish the make up and they started with the show around 6:20 and... More

The kathakali centre is a must go if you are in Fort Kochi. We saw two performances there, namely the Martial Arts performance and the Kathakali performance itself. It is done in a small A/c hall each evening. The martial arts on display was very intense and mesmerising. Usual martial arts practice is from sunrise to sunset, we watched samples... More

Our cab driver suggested it and it was a show not to be missed. The kathakali was performed by Punarjani group in Munnar.

If you are looking for an hour’s entertainment that borders on mind-numbing then this is the place. Certainly some interest to see a little of the hand and eye movements, but to sit here for an hour watching the same thing over and over again is really tiresome. Only for those really interested in the old dance ways of Kerala.... More
