This is a museum from the 19th century: basically an antiquarian storehouse. It has an indiscriminate jumble of stuff with poor curation. The airconditioning is inadequate and the humidity high. From the outside the house itself is quite stunning. Probably its internal decoration might be worth some marvelling, but alas it is so packed with things, and dim, it's a... More

A must see! An amazing visual history of India. One man's collecting addiction in a three floored building. Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff working in a maze of rooms full of art, sculptures, ancient carvings, fabrics and religious objects. Even a case of bits of Willie's and balls!!!

The museum has very interesting artifacts and beautiful displays of arts, craft and culture of the South Indian city of Kochi ( Cochin ). The guide gave a thorough explanation of the exhibits which were informative and of great interest.

It's hard to call this place a museum- it's more of a collection of artefacts in the process of being catalogued, but it's kind of cooler that way. A big 'ol pile of stuff, organized by region with minimal signage, that could occupy a whole afternoon if you're not careful. Enjoy perusing!

Its an effort of one person to gather so many artifacts and display it well in a private palace like building of three store. Its a must visit if you like to spend time with history, art, culture, music!

You realise when up step into this museum how old the Indian culture is. It's a wonderful place to see all the collections of one man for over 30 years. The carvings are so beautiful. As you can see in the photo, relics offered to the gods are 1,000 years BC! Masks of Gods I have never heard of. Mind... More

The Museum is an odd and charming old traditional wooden building where generations of curious people have stocked thousands of local cultural artifacts. Some pieces alone are worth the 400 roupies asked as the entrance fee. You can find very interesting masks, a sculpture of Vishnu doing yoga or an oil painting that I had never seen in my life:... Fabulous museum, so much to see here & its all crammed in over 3 floors so its like looking round a massive antique shop. Absolutely fascinating & some of the smaller things are for sale if you are interested. Worth the entrance fee. Recommend you pay the photography fee, we wish we had so we could have taken photos inside.
