- MeredithC68Sydney, Australia17 contributionsGastronomic Experience! We had a great time with Neema. Right from the start her communication was clear and when we arrived, all the food was set up and ready to go. The food we cooked was extraordinarily good and vindaloo should not be burning hot - rather very fragrant and tasty! We learned a lot by both doing and watching. Would highly recommend Neema’s Kitchen as an excursion in Cochin.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 February 2024
- Jill S5 contributionsGreat South Indian cookery classesWe had a very warm welcome to Neema's kitchen where we were treated to a hands on cookery course for the afternoon. We were provided with written recipes which we followed , with guidance from Neema. We enjoyed the fruits of our labour when we sat down to eat our dishes for dinner. Neema has two on line cookery books which we have. She also has recipes on her YouTube channel "Neema's Kitchen". We can thoroughly recommend Neema's cookery classes which are great funVisited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 February 2024
- Navigator415156608526 contributionsFabulous introduction to southern Indian cooking!Amazing, hands-on experience of how to produce some of the best of southern Indian food. A real experience! Neema is a great guide, informative and interactive - but, don't be fooled, she'll have you doing most of the work! Great time had and if Indian cookery is your thing or your curiosity it's not to be missed when in Kochi.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 March 2024
- Brecht M3 contributionsAmazing cooking class in KochiSecond cooking class I've taken in India but definitely the better of the two. Neema considered our dietary preferences, gave clear instructions and had handy recipe booklets we can use again. We made six dishes, which were absolutely fantastic. 10/10 would recommend, great experience ❤️Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2024
- Jourdan C5 contributionsGreat experienceWe took a cooking class from Neema! We were 3 students and we had a great time. Neema explains very well the different ingredients we used during the course. We made 6 dishes in total and each one was truly delicious! We cooked in his house and it was super clean and well thought out for classes. The meal was delicious. Thanks for your time, it was really cool. You can book with your eyes closed.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 March 2024
- marianne_gonon9 contributionsReally greatTruly a great experience, Neema welcomes us to her beautiful home and her superb air-conditioned kitchen (very welcome at the end of March). There were 3 of us in the class, and we cooked 6 different dishes. Neema takes the time to introduce us to each spice, then explains each recipe step by step. Everything is well organized and happens peacefully, with kindness. At the end, we enjoyed the meal and everything was excellent. We have been in India for 1 month and this was our best meal so far! THANKS !Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 March 2024
- Jill7 contributionsWonderful local Kerala cooking experience!Wonderful private cooking class with Neema . excellent tuition and tips for cooking, a great selection of dishes and provides recipes to enjoy after. The house itself where the cooking class is held is a beautiful house. Neema was a most welcoming host. Would highly recommend!Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 April 2024
- Happiness320299183521 contributionFantastic - not to be missed!Could not recommend this enough! We had a fabulous time at Neema's kitchen. We cooked a whole suite of authentic dishes and have a print out of the recipes to try and recreate at home. The food was absolutely delicious and Neema was an excellent teacher. Neema's home is really easy to get to from Fort Kochi. A real must whilst you're in Kochi. Come hungry!Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 June 2024
- William K2 contributionsAmazing cooking classMy son and I enjoyed Neema’s cooking class. We made 6 separate dishes, all of which had many ingredients and were delicious. Neema has a lot of energy and explains the subtle processes needed to make the dishes come out tasting so good. Her kitchen is amazing and she must spend a good deal of time preparing for the class as all the ingredients are set out at the beginning. Don’t miss this special opportunity.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 July 2024
- Companion457825158792 contributionsSouth Indian cooking experienceWhat an amazing experience! Neema is a very talented chef. She prepared the ingredients ahead of time and guided us through all of the chopping and cooking. Her kitchen is spotlessly clean and she runs it like a well oiled machine. This is a must while visiting Cochin.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 July 2024

What a great experience! We had a class with another couple and made 6 dishes from start to finish and I really learned a lot. Really a hands on class with recipes shared and after we ate an 8 course meal that included all our dishes. Everything was delicious and Neema does an excellent job explaining the South Indian cuisine and how to adapt the recipes for success back home. We loved the experience. Highlight of our India trip!

If you want to cook typical dishes from Kerala, you have come to the right place!
We had the pleasure of cooking with and in Neema's kitchen. Neema is a very humorous and friendly woman with an open and welcoming attitude.
Her kitchen is very authentic and clean.
At the beginning, Neema showed and explained to us various spices and herbs typical for India. After that, we got to work. We cooked six authentic and delicious dishes under Neema's guidance. After cooking, Neema presented the food to us in a very attractive way. The food was varied and very tasty. After we had eaten, Neema sat down with us and we chatted for a long time. We felt very comfortable and well looked after by Neema.
We can highly recommend her cooking class!
Thank you Neema for the wonderful experience!

If you are in Kochin and like to cook, you have to go to Neema ! In a beautiful, stylishly furnished house from the 1930s, peppered with hundreds of travel souvenirs, we were allowed to be Neema's cooking student. Neema is a warm hostess. Under Neema’s “knitted regime”, we not only learned about the typical ingredients, but were allowed to prepare a total of 6 Kerala dishes. Everything was perfectly prepared (Neema is well organized). In about three hours we created a comprehensive lunch that we were finally allowed to enjoy.
To the cooking school, of course, there are the precisely elaborated recipes. Overall, we enjoyed this cooking class - we are looking forward to “recooking” for our friends at home !
We would take this course again and again and can only recommend it !

I feel privileged to have spent a morning cooking in Neema's kitchen. Neema talked my family and me through the various spices commonly used in South Indian cuisine, then set us all to work preparing a range of delicious dishes. The morning was both fun and informative and Neema is a wonderful, knowledgeable teacher. Between the four of us, we somehow managed to create a banquet lunch of six different dishes, each with its own distinct flavour and texture. The results were truly wonderful and quite unlike any Indian cuisine I had tasted before. Most of all, we all really enjoyed the experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone else who gets the opportunity. I will remember it for a long time to come. Thank you, Neema!

Superb and very professional cooking class in a very modern kitchen. It was just the two of us and Neema, so there was a lot to do in order to prepare six delicious veggie dishes. We were quite exhausted after about 3 hours cooking straight but VERY happy about the amazing food. I very much liked that Neema also had some time to chat at the end and even her husband helped us with some tipps for our journey.
The only thing that was a little complicated and could maybe be improved, was payment. You have to pay in advance via wise.com or Google pay (Indian bank account and Indian mobile no. needed). For us (Europeans) it would be much easier to pay in cash or with credit card.
Thank you, Neema, for a wonderful yummy afternoon. :-)) All the best!

Neema humorously and very competently guided our group through 7 dishes after explaining to us all the spices used. The kitchen and the house are very clean and you immediately felt at home. Lunch was a great way to end the morning (incidentally, we sat together until almost 3 p.m.). Everyone gets the recipes in a booklet to take with them.

An authentic Indian experience in Neema’s one-of-a-kind Bungalow heritage homestay. I’ve learned so much about spices, the importance of timing, ingredients, and precise measurements in cooking, along with countless recipes. The environment is also kid-friendly, and the best part is tasting the delicious dishes we prepared together. Also the breakfast we had during our stay were so tasty and freshly cooked new recipes every single morning! Neema is hard working, passionate and really takes care that everyone has a hands-on experience and learns through her cooking classes.

Neema’s hands on cooking class was great! We learnt so much about Keralan spices and how to use them to build flavours in the six dishes we made. Neema provided recipes, guidance, cooking tips and encouragement during the whole class. Neema is very organised, so she had us chopping and stirring straight away. Her methodical and patient approach to cooking was also a great lesson for us.
Her kitchen is very well set up and an easy space to be in - many items displayed around the room make for an interesting time there too.
Neema helped us produce a feast! The butter chicken was the best we had ever eaten - so much flavour!

This was a truly unforgettable experience. The house is unique, full of interesting antiques, and built from Teak and Rosewood, with a different architectural style on each floor (Portuguese/Dutch/Keralan). The location is perfect, just 3 minutes walk from the ferry to Fort Kochi, with a stunning shore and Chinese fishing nets. Neema and her family are the most gracious hosts imaginable, and we felt perfectly at home. Neema’s cooking course was super. We learned a lot and made 6 dishes with Neema. Highest recommendation! Don’t miss this gem!!!

Hi,
I am an Indian and know cooking and cook on a daily basis. I would like to learn a bit about Keralite cuisine. Having said that I’m a pure vegetarian. Would your classes help me. I see in all your photos there are westerners around. I understand they will find it very exciting to try cooking Indian cuisine. Just wondering if it would be worth for a North Indian Vegetarian to try these classes ?
Please give your honest opinion.
Thanks
