- wiktoria p1 contributionMust do experienceNeema was so welcoming, and we got so much insight into how South Indian food is made. She took time to explain why certain spices go together & even their health benefits. It was a lovely touch to have had the recipes printed out in a little booklet, so we can’t wait to cook these dishes at home. Also we were both a bit ill and she was so accommodating, we really appreciated it. Neema was just so much fun & full of kindness. - Joe P3 contributionsNeema’s Curry MasterclassOur group of 7 had a great experience here with all the recipes Neema had to offer. Hands down the best home made curry I’ve ever cooked, easy to follow instructions and we even got a recipe leaflet to take home. Neema is a bit of a legend, 10/10 experience if you’re ever in Kochi!Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 15 November 2023

Neema was extremely friendly a made us all feel very welcome, despite being annoying and loud English 😂 Highly recommend!Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 15 November 2023
- Odyssey4610099133116 contributionsKochkurs bei NeemaToday we had a great cooking class with Neema. It was a lot of fun, we learned a lot and cooked 6 dishes, which we were all able to eat afterwards. And they were sooooo delicious. Neema is very nice and open-minded, her kitchen is very clean and we felt very comfortable. We highly recommend this experience.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 November 2023
- Liane FSubiaco, Australia36 contributionsHands on, flavour filledNeema’s hands on cooking class was great! We learnt so much about Keralan spices and how to use them to build flavours in the six dishes we made. Neema provided recipes, guidance, cooking tips and encouragement during the whole class. Neema is very organised, so she had us chopping and stirring straight away. Her methodical and patient approach to cooking was also a great lesson for us. Her kitchen is very well set up and an easy space to be in - many items displayed around the room make for an interesting time there too. Neema helped us produce a feast! The butter chicken was the best we had ever eaten - so much flavour!Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 28 November 2023
- Vittorio Z6 contributionsExcellent pescatarian cooking class hosted by the charismatic NeemaNeema is an excellent chef and host, and her class is an authentic experience of home cooked Indian food. We wanted the class to be fast-paced to improve our cooking skills, and the class exceeded expectations in how informative and involving it was. We cooked 6 fish and veg based dishes in 2.5 hours and the end result was spectacular, better than most dishes we tasted in our previous 2 weeks around india. Also, having stayed in 4/5 star hotels around India we can say her kitchen is spotless clean. Next time we're in Kochi we'll book her guest house to stay.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 December 2023
- Claudia M2 contributionsDon’t miss when visiting Kochi! My boyfriend and I had an amazing class this morning where we learnt to prepare 6 different traditional dishes from scratch. Neema explained the wide variety of spices that we went on to use. The house was spotless and everything was very well organised, next time we will definetely book to stay in her guest house!! Once we finished preparing the dishes we got to enjoy the delicious food we prepared! We highly recommend this class - Neema is a wonderful host.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 December 2023

- JandPNZWellington, New Zealand34 contributionsDelicious foodWe had a wonderful experience with two other couples, learning to cook 6 recipes of delicious Kerala food. Neema was very patient with us, none of us were particularly skilled cooks, but we all learnt new skills. Neema's home is easy to find, just a short walk from the Vypin ferry, and if we return, then her homestay will be the place to stay! Highly recommended as a "must do" activity in Fort Kochi.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 December 2023

We cannot recommend Neema's kitchen enough, if you have the opportunity to take a class here, you will not regret it! Despite our lack of experience cooking Indian cuisine, by the end of the class we produced a variety of dishes that looked and tasted absolutely incredible. Even if we do say so ourselves!
This was so much more than a cooking demonstration, we were hands on chopping, preparing and cooking everything from scratch.
Neema was a excellent teacher and her recipes are superb! A real authentic experience of South Indian cooking. This was easily some of the best food we have tasted during our time in India.

We had such a wonderful time cooking with Neema! Over three hours we learned so much about Indian cooking and made six delicious dishes in Neema’s lovely home. It was great to be so involved in the cooking of each dish, guided by Neema’s expertise while she told us stories and gave us tips for cooking particular things. We could not recommend this any higher to anyone who loves to eat and cook Indian food - it was so interesting and tailored to our requirements and tastes. We cannot wait to try the recipes Neema gave us back at home! Thank you!

I feel privileged to have spent a morning cooking in Neema's kitchen. Neema talked my family and me through the various spices commonly used in South Indian cuisine, then set us all to work preparing a range of delicious dishes. The morning was both fun and informative and Neema is a wonderful, knowledgeable teacher. Between the four of us, we somehow managed to create a banquet lunch of six different dishes, each with its own distinct flavour and texture. The results were truly wonderful and quite unlike any Indian cuisine I had tasted before. Most of all, we all really enjoyed the experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone else who gets the opportunity. I will remember it for a long time to come. Thank you, Neema!

This was my second visit to Kochi & Kerala with friends and I didn't even blink my eyes to do my second class with Neema. Classes and the quality of Neema's teaching are still top notch and Neema still remains the best.
We had a Non-Veg class with 6 items and each had varied tastes & spices. Neema explained them so well and made us to work hard. Spices were explained and that was the only time we got to sit then it was Aprons on, Hands on..... Then we sat together to enjoy fruits of our labour.....sooooooo tasty, I don't have words to explain. You got to experience Neema's Class and her dishes.
Well recommended with double thumps up!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Cooking lesson with Neema in her beautiful Kitchen.
Neema runs the class from her home in a special set up kitchen. She provides all the ingredients and leads you through how to use them in various dishes.
She emphasis on the use of spices. We prepared a Meat Dish, lentils, spicy potatoes and four more vegetarian dishes. After the preparation we ate what we had prepared.
Fantastic cooking class by Neema. Learnt the basics of homestyle Indian cooking. She is an extremely warm host and a Great teacher, well organised and provided simple tips to ensure that we would be able to follow her recipes back home. I loved it all and would highly recommend her class to anyone who wants to learn to cook with flavor and variety.

I had a wonderful afternoon and evening with 2 others cooking 6 delicious dishes designed and guided by Neema. She has a gentle but clear teaching style and after an introduction to the spices we were going to use, we successfully cooked a variety of dishes which demonstrated techniques and flavour combinations under Neema’s careful supervision. Then we got to eat them!! Yum!!
I learnt a lot and am inspired to try the recipes when I get back home (she gave us copies). I would unreservedly recommend Neema’s class to anyone in the area and wanting a hands on experience of cooking local food. Bungalow is close to Vypen ferry terminals so easy to get to.

We loved our experience at Neema's. We contacted her less than 24 hours ahead of our request to visit and she kindly obliged.
We found Neema to be very welcoming and well versed in her craft. She is a master of her kitchen and teaching her students what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. I occasionally found her approach a little abrupt, but frankly that is exactly what I wanted. A no-nonse Indian matriarch to boss me around her kitchen and tell me what to do. It was great. Highly recommend.
Neema insisted we eat until we burst. As the food is so tasty this was not too much trouble.
Neema ended our class with a tour of her beautiful home, built by her grandfather in less than 22 days, it is truly beautiful and something she is clearly very proud of,

What a fantastic experience at Neema’s kitchen!
I’ve been travelling South India for a couple of weeks and as a big foodie, I had to do a cooking class. As a vegan, it was really difficult to find a class that could adapt their recipes to suit me. Neema, not only adapted her recipes, but she ran a fully vegan class which I greatly appreciated.
We cooked a total of 6 dishes (all of which were a vegan version of traditional South Indian dishes) and received recipe cards which we were able to take home. Neema was very kind, welcoming, patient and most importantly a fantastic teacher. She also took the time to sit down with us at the beginning and walk us through all the spices that are used in Indian cooking and even talked us through a number of home remedies which I found really interesting!
At the end of the session, we sat down and ate all the food that we cooked. The session took around 3.5 hours and was a truly memorable experience.
Thank you so much Neema! I can’t wait to go back home and cook all the dishes for my family!

Truly a great experience, Neema welcomes us to her beautiful home and her superb air-conditioned kitchen (very welcome at the end of March).
There were 3 of us in the class, and we cooked 6 different dishes. Neema takes the time to introduce us to each spice, then explains each recipe step by step. Everything is well organized and happens peacefully, with kindness.
At the end, we enjoyed the meal and everything was excellent. We have been in India for 1 month and this was our best meal so far! THANKS !

Hi,
I am an Indian and know cooking and cook on a daily basis. I would like to learn a bit about Keralite cuisine. Having said that I’m a pure vegetarian. Would your classes help me. I see in all your photos there are westerners around. I understand they will find it very exciting to try cooking Indian cuisine. Just wondering if it would be worth for a North Indian Vegetarian to try these classes ?
Please give your honest opinion.
Thanks
