Ponmudi—literally translates to ‘Golden Peak’ and for good reason—is a lovely hill station ~60 kilometers from the city centre. Apparently, it is also called the Kashmir of Kerala — something we found on Google during a random search.
A proud member of the mighty Western Ghats mountain range family, the one that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea. A popular honeymoon destination and a thrilling experience for drivers who must navigate their way through 22 hairpin curves to reach the peak! Trust us, totally worth the effort and the hair pins! And this winding road offers an amazing view of the mountain, tea gardens and the valleys.
Go early morning—or even post lunch in the monsoons—to be engulfed in the mist. The beauty is beyond what words can describe. Great for backpacking, trekking or just a drive to unwind. Don’t miss the steaming hot tea and banana fritters once you’re up there, covered in mist!

Ponmudi Hill station is one of the main attractions of Trivandrum. It has a cold climate with heavy wind which makes you shiver even in the noon. It's a huge relief to get away from the hot atmosphere of Trivandrum city.
Driving to the hill station through the road with 22 hair pin curves is also an experience. View from above is also pretty good. One of the must visit places in Trivandrum. An ideal place to go with friends , family or as couples.

Ponmudi is one of the virgin lands of India. As it has not been polluted much being there gives you real relaxation and rejuvenation. Its better to reach early in the morning to enjoy the fresh air. During the day time if its not cloudy there is no shade around.

Ponmudi is a lovely little spot to wind down and/or hike. The elevated viewpoint does present many photo opportunities. The road to Ponmudi is a long and winding road though, so get your heart prepared if you are the type who is easily landsick. Overall, still a good spot!

Ponmudi is a hill station 55 km away from Trivandrum central railway station. There are 22 hairpins in this road and the drive through the forest is a good experience.
The most interesting feature of ponmudi is that fog comes suddenly and sometimes you can't even see anything around you and heavy wind is also a speciality.
On the way to ponmudi, you can go to meenmutty waterfalls also.

A good tide to the hill top. Scenic views within walkable distance.
Great hill station spot near Trivandrum. Good for couple, family and friends outing. Consider the must visit Meenmutty waterfalls too on this trip itinerary.

Went to Kovalam for a beach holiday and then drove down to Ponmudi for a change of scenery - and what a change.
Nice clean drive with decent roads from Kovalam.
Breathtaking views, we were also visiting Neyyar the same day ( avoid) , so we planned to stay at Ponmudi for an hour max.
We ended spending more than 2 hours there and would have stayed longer too!
Certainly worth the trip!

Ponmudi is one of the famous landmarks of Trivandrum. Travelers, especially those who loves bike ride will definitely love Ponmudi. The roads are very narrow and has 22 hairpin curves to reach Ponmudi. The climate at hill top varies within seconds. Foggy Ponmudi and cool climate is a must experience one. Vast parking area is available at the hill top and there are many view points available. This is a great place to visit with whoever you like to travel with - friends, family or as couples.

It was an amazing trip. A peaceful hill station with a descent road. When we wrre aboutvto reach the station at the hair pin roads itself too much of mist and that moment itself we felt transformed to another place. Lovely lovely trip. Lovely place. Roads were just opened in between the covid restrictions. Awesome weekend visit
