First of all, there's a biological park/zoo in there, a lake with boating, a waterpark, a science center, an artisan village and an ethnic house, all inside Pilikula Nisargadhama.

They have this battery operated vehicle called buggy that drops you off at spots inside Nisargadhama. Ticket prices are alright.

Let's talk about the zoo first, cuz I loved spending time there the most as a solo traveller. This was a wonderful. Takes about 3 hours to walk through the entire zoo, that is if you're gonna be pausing by every animal/bird and admire like I did. It was a bit sad that some lives were enclosed in a relatively smaller cage/enclosure, but let's not go into that. As far as zoos go, this was a good place. Lots of shade, good walking, lots of greenery, clean and well maintained.
Downside is, they had no drinking water throughout the zoo, except for the couple of shops at the entrance of the zoo. A couple spots had benches for you to sit down and relax.

Then the lake with boating. BEAUTIFUL. Very clean walking place and lots of green and flowers, huuuugee lake, kinda dirty water. You need to walk, like A LOT. Definitely worth checking out, spending the afternoon or evening.

I absolutely loved the ethnic house at the artisan village. The artisan village was pretty much empty, but that ethnic house was a very beautiful place, awe inspiring.

There's a restaurant inside, food is okay, not bad, pricey. A there are a couple of small villas for staying in there.

I didn't get to visit the water park, but seemed promising.

Also, there's a science center.

Most importantly, even though there are buggys you can ride, you gotta walk so much, I loved that.

Overall you'll spend a good day here.

This is a full day activity and in case if you visit this place for only half day or few hours then you will be able to see 2 or 3 things only. We had around 3 hours of time hence had to choose 2 activity. We opted for Zoo visit and Arts and Gutthu house visit. Zoo was maintained well, as the animals were looking healthy compared to few other zoo in other cities were animals look malnutritioned. This place is in outskirts of Mangalore but not very far though. Just a drive of 20 minutes will take you there. Need to buy tickets for each activity or can buy one ticket for all the activities. It is better if you purchase a buggy ticket for travelling between attractions otherwise you will have to walk between attractions and might loose your time just for that.

Very nice place for a day out with family. Has a water-park and beautifully landscaped gardens. I visited this place twice - first time with friends & the next with family. Suitable for both - family & friends.

This place has much improved than my previous visits. My family had a fun time in here learning about Mangalorean heritage. The planetarium and science centre was very modern and informative. The canteen in there was good too. You can take a buggy ride around if you have lesser time as the place is vast. It can still be better maintained and many of the staff in heritage activities were not there.

Place is full of wide range of activities. It has veg and non veg restaurant as well, and can carry own food also.
Entry charges :- 100 + 20 for planetarium+ 25 for electric vehicle.
half price above 3 to 12/18 I guess.

Opening: 9:30 AM
Closing: 5:30 PM
Lake Garden 6:30 PM
Water park separate entry and timings altogether. Main entrance for all internal attraction is common.

In the order of map ( can be covered only if entered early by 10:00 AM and have accompanying kids)
1. Science Museum, Garden and 3D dome planetarium - Very good and informative for kids and adults. 1-2 hrs. Kids whole day :) good play area.
2. Zoo - huge collection of animals in walk-able area. Vehicle not needed. 2-3 hrs. No elephant , giraffe though. 150 Rs extra for camera.
3. Opposite to the zoo is the restaurant, serves good veg meals. - 1 hr
4. Water park is separate entry and may need a separate whole day.
5. Beautiful Lake garden with boating (extra 30 rs /p ), aquarium and well designed garden with small Eiffel tower. 2-3 hrs. Closes 6:30. all others at 5:30
6. Heritage House - 1 hr - Local Cultural stuff
7. Artisan Village 1 hr - Local Cultural stuff.

Note the above places are at quite a distance from each other as the place itself is huge area and need to pick and drop in electric vehicle inside where time is wasted especially during lunch hours as the frequency is reduced. No proper manager/ownership or guide for the place as the employees are on contract so self planning is needed.

Animals in the glass cage are good but the glass windows were not cleaned:) Cobra zone is the main attraction and quite good.

If going for half day skip 6 and 7 as others are more rich than those two and they are at the dead end and cannot walk back and dependent on electric vehicle for pickup.

Recommended order.

Keep Lake Garden last or early as during peak sunny hours cannot enjoy outdoor. Go for indoor stuff like restaurant or planetarium (fully AC ) or Zoo as its full of shades and greenery when sun is at peak. Outdoors like kids play area( Nr. Planetarium) can only be good after 4. as it closes at 5:30.
Planetarium can also act as a refresher during the middle of the trip as it 45 minutes full AC show in recliner seats with no energy drain like others. Recharge yourself here.

Own food can be carried except inside planetarium.
