Neighbourhood: Cubbon Park
In the heart of the city’s business hub is Bangalore’s most favourite garden. Cubbon Park is a beautifully maintained 120-hectare garden where all the local residents of the city take a break. A landmark ‘lung’ area of Bengaluru, the gardens are dotted with a lot of colonial heritage and charm, which are today a part of the state capital’s political centre. Home to the red-painted Gothic style State Central Library, the magnificent Vidhan Souda built in Mysore Neo-Dravidian architectural style, the neoclassical Attara Kacheri built in 1864 and housing the High Court, oldest museums and GPO in its vicinity, a trip to Cubbon Park is a great heritage walk. Sundays at the park are quite a treat with a plethora of activities to choose from - concerts, fun runs, yoga, tiny farmers market, the list is endless.
How to get there
  • Sir M Visveshwarya • 5 min walk
  • Central College • 6 min walk

Vikasa Soudha near Vidhana Soudha, located at Dr Ambedkar Veedhi, Ambedkar Veedhi, Sampangi Rama Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This imposing edifice built almost entirely of dressed Bangalore granite is a tribute to temple architecture and one of Bangalore's most important buildings.

A very beautiful structure built in Bangalore.
The place is easily noticable from normal traffic.
The building is huge surrounded by greenery which is a very good attraction.
It has become a tourist attraction point. Although tourists are not allowed to enter the building, people can click pictures from the roadside.
If you are visiting Bangalore, ensure you visit this place.

It is quite a beautiful building. The place is near to Cubbon Park in front of Karnataka High Court. This place can be easily reached by Namma Metro. I didn’t go inside the building, but from outside the building was beautiful.

The Vikasa Soudha is located next to the eye-catching Vidhana Soudha and is, in a way, a less ostentatious replica of the latter. Housing some government departments and ministries, this building too is not a tourist attraction as in members of the public cannot actually visit it, but can see it from the road outside.

You can drive by these buildings and take a quick picture. This is not open to the public. You don’t get very close.

It is very large so it looks best from farther away.

Worthy of a quick two minute stop to take a quick picture.

Vikasa Soudha was built as a replica of Vidhana Soudha to take its load off, I was told. But architecturally and technically, it's a better piece of building than the original - clean, RWH installed, decent squiggling not an eyesore. If you have a business to be there it's worth a visit.
