Neighbourhood: Shivajinagar/Commercial Street
Shivajinagar is one of the most bustling neighbourhoods located in central Bangalore, known for its shopping bargains for every mood and style. Revolved around the heritage Russell Market that provides a mélange of sights, sounds and smells, a visit here is a great exploration that takes you in lanes with vendors selling antiques furniture, flowers, meat and freshest produce to tea especially Suleimani chai and meaty street food in the evenings. No trip is complete without a visit to Commercial Street that is lined with shops selling fabric, silver and gold jewellery, clothes and trinkets. As you shop, eat and walk around these busy streets, do take a stroll at some of beautiful old temples and a Gothic-style St. Mary’s Basilica in the
neighbourhood.

Commercial Street is the heart of shopping paradise in the garden city. The large area covering shops on both sides of the roads makes it even more interesting place along with street food options on the road. Great place for bulk shoppers and anyone can enjoy this shopping paradise mostly in the evening.
Commercial Street has shops from A to Z brands, fast food chain options and very well connectivity to nearby places along with transportation needs.

This shopping destination overflows with beautiful western wear like tops, dresses, skirts etc. Footwear too is available. The prices seem really low. I picked some excellent ready-made saree blouses here

If you are a shopper this is the place for you. The variety is indescribable and vast. Service in shops like Mysore Saris and Aarha latter for shalwar sand fabric was excellent. The patience of pulling out dozens of fabric to show clients is I think only found in India. Be prepared to walk though. Myriads if streets criss crossing offering Jewellery shoes sandals bags and very good food as well. Marvelous experience

Almost all big brand store are here. Very haphazard manner the way street is developed over the years.
Over crowed during evening time.
Many city in India having far better shopping area in terms of infrastructure. Not very interesting.

First place in Bangalroe that reminded me of Delhi--the streets, the clothes, the sounds! It's a ladies' heaven and I can't imagine one product-- generic or branded(not luxury) that one can't find here.

If you like shopping and you are in Bangalore, this is the place you should not miss. Please note this road has serious traffic/parking issues. Make sure you are aware where you vehicle is parked.

Hi will the shops at commercial Street be opened on Jan 16 Thursday 2020
Written 13 January 2020
The shops at Commercial Street are always open. If you want to avoid the shopping crowds go there in the mornings after 11 am. In the evenings, the entire area is alive with lights and offers a different shopping experience inspite of the crowd.

Hi, I'll be staying in Whitefield, do you think it's doable to go from Whitefield to Commercial Street after 5.30PM and arrive before the stores closed? Assume it's weekdays. If not, any suggestion on similar market for shopping in Whitefield area? Thank you.
Written 2 August 2019
Please instead go to any of the big malls. They not only provide a clean and better environment but a wider choice in terms of brand, facility for parking, food court etc etc
Written 5 August 2019
I am not sure but it should be open

At what time in morning does the shops starts opening
Written 8 September 2018
Can I go at 6 pm on tuesday ? The markets remain open till what time ?
Written 28 August 2018
Yes, 6pm is a good time to visit. Shops close at 8/9pm. If you have a lot of shopping to do (South Indian hand looms both cottons and silks at Cooptex, Salonee, contemporary ready mades at Max, Reliance, Westside etc) and would like to catch a bite at restaurants (Shiv Sagar there is very good for vegetarian varieties) it’s better to be there earlier. Car parking space has always been an issue, as is in most parts of Bangalore.
