Neighbourhood: Basavangudi
Close to Jayanagar and home to the Bull temple after which it was named,
Basavanagudi is one of the oldest localities in the vibrant metropolitan of Bengaluru,
with structures replete with character, architecture and rich history. Numerous old
and beautiful temples define the true essence of this green locality filled with chirpy markets like the colourful Gandhi Bazaar, many parks with ancient trees, a wide range of unique eateries and dotted with tiny lakes. Taking a stroll here is full of
Malgudi Days throwback moments since this pretty lush green neighbourhood has still retained its old-world charm, which might remind you of scenes and stories from the popular collection of short stories by RK Narayan. From a stately old spacious home that once belonged to the Diwan of Mysore, a shop in a heritage family home, a 100-year old home that has turned into a reservoir of modern art, there is a lot of cultural confluence at every step.

I found this temple to be very tranquil and peaceful.
We were invited to partake of prasada, which made the visit that much more special.
You leave shoes in the little building at the start of the driveway, 5Rs a pair.
Was made to feel very welcome by the worshipers.
It won't take long to visit and it's in a very nice "let's have a wander" area.
Very much worth your time

Lord Ganesha grace and blessing is what we seek for any new start in our life. From student days traditional Bengaluru people have been following this.
Dodda Ganesha Temple and surrounding has retained the old values and beauty of the true city I was born and brought up.
Must see place which is nestled in Basavanagudi and Gandhi Bazaar

Good place to visit with family.Dodda Basavana Gudi is situated in Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, area of South Bengaluru, part of the largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka. The Hindu temple is inside a park called Bugle Rock. The bull referred to is a sacred Hindu demi-god, known as Nandi; Nandi is a close devotee and attendant of Shiva.

I came here twice on different days and it was closed both times. Even though the temple is closed, people still come to pray and the shutters are wide open enough to see the whole of the temple. It’s not actually all that big and even from the outside I can see a large statue of Ganesh in the sanctum sanctorum. The gopuram is colourful and about par by South Asian standards. Apart from that there’s little else to see.
The temple is in the far south of Bengaluru, next to the Sri Big Bull Temple. I wouldn’t go out of the way unless you have time.

A huge Ganesha idol, the elephant God catches your eye like never before, the flower decorations impress and divinity flows with a Pooja and if lucky a maha mangalarathi is a visual delight. Don't miss the bull temple next door and view the gigantic bull with a Pooja and have a lot of good food around the temple areas.
