The area
Neighbourhood: Basavangudi
Close to Jayanagar and home to the Bull temple after which it was named, Basavanagudi is one of the oldest localities in the vibrant metropolitan of Bengaluru, with structures replete with character, architecture and rich history. Numerous old and beautiful temples define the true essence of this green locality filled with chirpy markets like the colourful Gandhi Bazaar, many parks with ancient trees, a wide range of unique eateries and dotted with tiny lakes. Taking a stroll here is full of Malgudi Days throwback moments since this pretty lush green neighbourhood has still retained its old-world charm, which might remind you of scenes and stories from the popular collection of short stories by RK Narayan. From a stately old spacious home that once belonged to the Diwan of Mysore, a shop in a heritage family home, a 100-year old home that has turned into a reservoir of modern art, there is a lot of cultural confluence at every step.

Lord Ganesha grace and blessing is what we seek for any new start in our life. From student days traditional Bengaluru people have been following this.

Dodda Ganesha Temple and surrounding has retained the old values and beauty of the true city I was born and brought up.

Must see place which is nestled in Basavanagudi and Gandhi Bazaar

Good place to visit with family.Dodda Basavana Gudi is situated in Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, area of South Bengaluru, part of the largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka. The Hindu temple is inside a park called Bugle Rock. The bull referred to is a sacred Hindu demi-god, known as Nandi; Nandi is a close devotee and attendant of Shiva.

Relatively small temple, but houses the largest monolithic Nandi statue in India, so is worth a visit to see that.

one of the oldest temples in Bangalore. I visit here normally during kadlekai parishe(groundnuts fair). The idol is huge and always gives me a feeling of the power of Ganesha. usually alankara is done during the parishe. a must visit for non Bengalureans.

I love this place calm and quite , they have car and bike parking space
One needs to walk around 30 or more steps to reach the temple, also i have been there many times in my last visit i saw there is a way for the car to reach very close to the Temple main entrance.

We had heard about this big temple of Ganpati, so went there. You feel very serene when you went inside the temple. Big stone carved Ganeshji is unique but outside the temple, surrounding is pathetic. No cleanliness, dumping of garbage while you ascend for bull temple..
