The River Kaveri and River Arkkavathi join here to flow as a single river Cauvery further towards Tamilnadu. The area is surrounded by hillocks and lush green vegetation making it a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the waters. You can reach Mekedattu from here by crossing the river by a Bamboo boat and take a bus to Mekedattu. KSTDC... More

My comment has two fold: ***** About Sangama (5 STAT) Sangama means Union and here it is a union of two rivers. Mekedatu is a location along river Kaveri in Kanakapura Taluk. Sangama is the place where river Arkavati merges with river Kaveri. From this point, about 3.5 kilometers downstream, the river Kaveri flows through a deep and narrow gorge....... More

Mekedatu is already a must visit water body little away from the city. What makes it special is the sangam of 2 rivers, one of which is Cauvery. Mostly shallow water plane in the sangam area so it's fun to walk into it for some distance, but care should be taken on high tide times.

I had been to this place about 2 weeks ago with my family and friends. At least my kids enjoyed a lot in the river water. But, you need to be careful while travelling to the other side of the river. If you can reach early you can also visit Mecedatu falls. You get nice and tasty fish fry and... More

This is a dangerous place. Cauvery flows thru narrow and deep gorges. Its slippery and people have lost their lives. Crocodiles infested. Dont get into water

Around 120 km from Mysore, there is nothing much to do here apart from watching the water shaping the rocks. Few spots on the rocks are breath taking. Mysore - Bannur - Malavalli - Sathnur - Doddalahalli - Sangama. That's the route from Mysore. Ferry in sangama from one shore to other and a bus for about 20 min from... More

Great place to enjoy the nature with the mountains in the background and the silent crystal clear river waters. One needs to definitely take the coracle ride which costs around Rs 40 per person. There is no entrance fee to this place as of now.

When we visited there was very less water. We can walk and cross the river to reach bus to Mekedatu. We missed coracle ride. Worth when there is more water. Careful we could see some glass pieces nearby river. Fish lovers can really enjoy having fried fishes in the entrance shops. Really tasty.

Its a nice place to spent some peaceful time with friends or family. Water at Sangama is clear and quiet. Mekadatu is near to it by forest department bus after crossing river. I can be a half day outing. I would request people not to take a bath here and polluting the water. You can dip your feet or splash... More
