Well maintained by the authorities. Early morning you can spot the birds and the lake is huge. We went there for a cycle ride and I think many riders and photographers visit. There is a small temple.

The most iconic places of Bengluru

It's definitely the best places to cycle, very calm, serene, rich with flora and fauna. There are Government Vegetable farms, fruit farms, fisheries and all but all that the place is lacking is the water, you read it right, the lake has dried up and all that's left and the entire lake has become a grazing place for cattle now.

Hopefully the monsoon rains should bring back it's beauty soon ⛈️

This weekend, we decided to drive down to Hesaraghatta Lake, which is a nice place for a weekend getaway. We took a detour around the scenic Hesaraghatta Main Road that connects Jalahalli to Hesaraghatta. The road is well maintained and is lined with small farms and plots of agricultural land, and is not very busy.

The lake, like most other water bodies in Bengaluru , is slowly dying due to encroachment in catchment areas. However what is left is rather well maintained.

It is certainly wort checking out if you are in for a short drive out of town.

We went along with our kids. Its a lake but no single drop of water here its fully dry. Its just a nice getaway from bangalore crowd but there is nothing to do here. You can take a long walk sit and relax for an hour. There is also a small temple.
Fresh air and some calm environment.

It is one of the old reservoir of Bangalore. Nothing much to see here. You can visit this place with Bicycle or bike. You can spend 1-2hrs here and come back. There is no hotels or food joints here. Best time to visit is early morning or evening time.

It is one of the largest existing lakes in Bangalore. One can witness a beautiful sunset on the bank of the lake. But it is polluted and there are signs it may disappear in the near future.

Nice place for a weekend getaway. The lake has a bit of history- made in the year 1894 by K. Seshadri Iyer, the then Diwan of Mysore and M.C. Hutchins, the then Chief Engineer of Mysore. It was planned to store a three- years’s water supply to the city. The lale had good amount of water due to heavy raining this year. Serves as a good picnic spot. The temple by the side is a good place to visit. Overall a nice weekend getaway for a one hour 30 mins travel from the city. Can become a good tourist spot with little bit of maintenance, water sports and eating joints.
