This is a nice pristine place to visit for a early morning bike run or a car drive. The place is well maintained and views are mesmerizing.

There are no shops or anything else and is far from nearest village. The last 3 kms is very bumpy and may not be suitable for low height cars.

Best time to visit will be in early AM and this can also be a potential picnic spot for families in evening.

Please continue to keep this place clean and enjoy the drive and views

Woww is the ony word for this place and I thanks Karnataka Government to leave it unattended as Rawness is the beauty of this place.
Amazing place and I visited when it was raining and it adds value to the visit. Amazing Journey from Bangalore to this place thru narrow lanes of village. Kids have seen such old villages in Karnataka first time though seen many in Rajasthan, UP, Delhi but Karnataka is different.
Sweet people try to help in whatever they can.
Parking fees for car is 50 as someone local wants to make money and i do not mind during covid time.
Also there is a small bridge and my wife leg got stuck there, so be careful while walking on it. Thanks to Biker for sharing Bike chain lubricant and helped to pull the leg out.
Must visit place for a picinc.

Very nice and lot of greenery around.
It's an secluded and not so popular place.
Very good for a day trip with family and kids...
Please take food and water along, as there is no shops or hotels around.
And don't forget to take umbrella or shades as it is open lands..

Bored by kids forced holidays and wfh, and itching for a ride on new suv, was searching for someplace for a day trip and some exercise for all lazy legs at home, whereby chanced about traveltwosome and found this place along with Avalabetta and boy, it did work out really well. Mid-march the temperature does get hot too soon, so ensure you reach as early first to hill and then to this lake dam. It was already 11 and bright sun on our head. you need to keep continuing beyond the parking of the hill to reach this place, the road is really bad for like 10 km as per google maps, till you hit the state highway. then road is like butter, with new concrete road being put up for the last 6 km to the dam. only the last 500m or so is dirt road and a suv helps, though did see few indicas etc also. Till the point you reach the place, there is no indication of the huge lake formed by the dam. hardly any families though, and a small shack selling some snacks. but the place is beautiful - huge expanse of water and small walkway on the lake, past the dam, to reach the point where they can open the gate (its a mud dam), so probably when its too full, there is some way to discharge the water. road is pretty good back to chikaballpur and you hit NH44. so in 8 hours, we had a sunday well spent :)

This is one of the secluded and lesser know place near Bangalore. You will hardly find any visitors here. A good place to have a picnic. There is no shops near to this dam so be prepared with some food if you are planning to spent more time here.

It's better to reach around 6-7 in the morning so that you can witness the memorising sunrise.

Please be aware that the last 10-15Km the road is really bad and bumpy, filled with potholes.

Once you reach the dam there is an awesome view of backwaters among the hills and some people were swimming also there, this can be also a good picnic option where you can take your stuff and have picnic in peace. There near the dam you will get tea, water, bhel puri and another person selling cut guavas. It is a peaceful and relaxing place to go and spend some time there.

"Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder"... this phrase is suitable for this place. It may be a place for spending few hours or half day or a whole day or a night out ..whatever you want. To me, this is the most peaceful and beautiful place within 100kms of Bangalore. This place is more like a natural lake surrounded by hills. Let me describe my journey ..
Four of us started on a cloudy Sunday noon. We wanted to start by 10 a.m. but ultimately started at about 12. The place can be found in google map so dont worry about the route. We took the NH44 and reached there by 3. On the way we had our lunch in a veg restaurant named Gokul veg. I will recommend the thali (either north or south indian).
The road is smooth (except last 5-6km) and you will fully enjoy the drive. You can park the car near the lake. As the place is not well known, one can enjoy the silence of this place. After reaching there, we explored the nearby hills. It's kind of a short trek without proper rout or map. You can spend there as long as you want, no restriction, no permission but obviously be careful. If you are lucky you can find peacocks there. But as we reached late we had to return to the lake side within 5:30. Then we took bath in the lake. It was refreshing as the whether was excellent and the water also. After the bath, we spent some time in the river bank and returned at about 7. If we could have taken the tent, we could camp their and campfire. We will do that later.

Overall, it was an amazing experience and we will definitely visit this place again. Some tips to the readers -
=> there are no shops nearby so put some food and water stock.
=> There are enough places to camp there and I don't think any permission required to camp.
=> If you are going with your family, specially take care of your children.
=> take your camera .. its a place for photography.
Lastly .... wonder in the lap of nature ... spend a good amount of time with family, friends or with yourself.. till the place will be a well known place :)

This is not exactly like what we have impression about dam... it more seems like a natural lake, this place is isolated and you will not find single shop around... no food no drinking water, no ideal place to sit

This place is for young people who want to do camping overnight and want to catch sunrise...

Overall a good place but not worth traveling 100kms from Bangalore

If you are planning then please pack your

We went there on a Saturday night and set up our tents. It's a very calm and serene place, suitable for people who would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The temperature gets a little cold at night, so it's recommended that you carry warm clothes. Visit on a full moon night and you might get to catch the moon rising right in between two hills that lie beyond the lake, eventually casting its reflection on the water body and lighting up everything around you.! Wake up early and you can catch the sunrise too . If you camp, make sure you don't litter and please tidy the place before you leave.
