Active Adventure is a locally run travel company based in Ladakh Himalaya arranging adventure, nature, and cultural trips in the himalaya! It is our belief that adventure and culture travel are as much philosophy as it is the pursuit to provide an incredible travel experiences. When you join for one of our adventures or cultural trips you leave behind the pressure of modern life, connect with nature in a meaningful way and interact with some of the most fascinating cultures. Everything was so well organized by Active Adventures..made the trip really memorable.. His knowledge of the area, terrain and related health advisory and stay recommendations were simply fabulous and can go blindly with his expert advice..Leh Mentok Resort at Leh and the Creek at Dikit both were fab properties with really great views and awesome food..if going to Ladakh or Kashmir again, will go with Active adventures without a doubt..the owner is a thorough gentleman and gem of a person.. Met him on the last day of the trip to clear the bills..he was more concerned about ensuring a smooth and hasale free experience rather than charging advance etc..great going!!

Wonderful arrangements
Travelled during December of 2022. I have a request that was off-the-beaten-track that’s pretty inconvenient for tourist during that month, and will like to thank Dorjay for accommodating.
He assigned a good guide who doubled as a fixer, and one of the best drivers for the rocky Himalayan terrains. Thanks Ang Chok for finding us shelters and follow through on some of the riskier options for the best experience, & Nobul for keeping us safe on the roads & being a great cook.

Tailored Trip Around Leh, Ladakh (Incredible Experience!)

My friend and I only had about 3 days in Ladakh to spend and had to plan our trip somewhat last minute. Thinlay Dorjay was an incredible service to us as he 1) helped us plan an amazing trip that was specifically tailored to our interests, 2) included activities in our trip we hadn’t thought of previously that were unforgettable and 3) arranged an amazing driver for us and Thinlay served as our private guide for two day treks. Thinlay will make whatever kind of trip to Ladakh happen and will make it better than you thought it could be.
He and our driver showed us two prominent monasteries around Leh and thoroughly explained the spiritual significance of all the different parts of the monasteries/temples. This was truly an unbelievable experience as we got a genuine preview of the local philosophy and culture. The importance of compassion in Buddhist philosophy definitely shows through Thinlay and his service - he genuinely seems to enjoy teaching visitors about the local culture and environment.
Thinlay also served as a private guide for us and helped immensely in planning which treks to do. We had to makeshift our own hikes because we did not have enough time to do full treks. Thinlay helped us choose two different day treks that would give us a great preview of the unique landscapes of Ladakh. He ended up planning portions of the sham valley trek and stok trek for us, which were both phenomenal.
Overall, Thinlay and his driver gave us an unforgettable experience at a very very fair price. His service is coming from a very genuine place of wanting each visitor to enjoy Ladakh to the fullest. This was evidenced by his great effort to make sure we got to do everything we set out to in Ladakh with limited time. If I or anyone I know is visiting ladakh again, I will make sure they have his number and use his service. I hope to return and plan another trip with Thinlay and his group again as soon as I can!

I booked Ladakh tour for 7 night 8 days only seeing reviews of Active Adventure in Trip Advisor. Owner Mr. Thinlay Dorjay is more than expectation honest and genuine travel agent . After 2yrs Corona period June 2022 Ladakh has witnessed tourist beyond its capacity but in that situation also Mr Dorjay arranged experienced well behaved driver for us . In Pangong & Tso Moriri he changed hotel which were not at per my choice so i was bit irritated bt Mr Dorjay apologized saying tourist situation of this year . He arranged extra oxygen cylinder for us . He is not commercial that much but reliable honest Ladakhi man.

Had a great trip with Active Adventures. Communication with the owner Dorjay was smooth and effective. Our tour guide Stanzen and driver Rigzin provided highly professional and hospitable service, we had a very customized tour in which I learned a lot of knowledge about the history, religion and traditions in Ladakh. Top of the World Travel

From the beginning Active Adventures made travel in Ladakh easy and provided an unforgettable experience. Thinlay Dorjay, the owner, was very prompt in responding to all of my questions. Dorjay seemed to understand right away the sorts of activities that my 14yr old son and I were most interested in during our week in the area. Dorjay definitely made our time in Ladakh the highlight of our entire trip to India.

I couldn't say enough good things. All of the home stays were authentic and memorable, in a good way. The driver was so friendly and always there for us. And our guide, Stanzin, was the best ever! He was more like a best friend than a guide. He went above and beyond in every aspect. We've had some exceptional guides in our travels, but Stanzin is a step above them all. If we traveled in the area again we wouldn't go without Stanzin.

The one thing that I wish I had known about Active Adventures beforehand is that you have to trust that they have everything taken care of. Like others have mentioned in their reviews, there were times when I wasn't sure what was going on. For example, from the start Dorjay was very prompt in his communication. However, after I sent full payment I didn't hear anything back for more than a week and then only after I followed up. Things like that left me a little concerned and I wish I had known that the people at Active Adventures are very trustworthy and will have everything taken care of.

If you are considering travel in Ladakh, go, and let Active Adventures make it the best travel imaginable.

Amazing Ladakh Trip!!

I have been a traveler since ages....&, in all these years of traveling, I do avail the expert service of travel managers. I would like to say that Thinlay Dorjay, owner & COO of Active Adventures Ladakh has demolished all my preconceived, previously experienced notions of a typical Travel Operator!
I make my own itineraries & am open for expert advice by the local Travel Managing Expert who has the domain knowledge of the geography as well as logistics of the area....my Itinerary was appreciated by him, & I had asked him to book my stays, vehicles, & all necessary permits, etc.
Generally, the first thing ALL travel management cos. do is to give a schedule for the advance payment/s, & when the advance amounts are received by them, they send the relevant vouchers for the stays & the vehicle - no such thing happened here!! - for the first time in my life!! &, to tell you the truth - i was confused!

After literally coaxing Dorjay bhai for an advance, several times (so that I know they are managing my trip!!), he mailed some measly amount to be deposited as advance, which I paid immediately, to which I received an one liner mail - "advance received with thanks"!
I expected the vouchers - absolute silence!!

As the tour date came closer, without any vouchers in hand, i was getting tensed by the day!! He used to answer my (panic) calls with his usual nonchalant voice, & the calm smile & the "thik hai-thik hai staccato!!
I was NOT "thik hai" & was almost on the verge of pressing the panic button!

On the day before we were scheduled to travel a text comes from him - only the Kashmir contact person & driver details!!
When I reach Srinagar & especially after I start our trip for Ladakh, gradually, I realized what a fabulously adept Travel Manager Dorjay Bhai is!!

He made our entire trip, almost perfect - astoundingly fabulous stays, superb drivers, & all necessary arrangements, as required for a most comfortable, & lovely tour...

I experienced a person who has reached Zen level - oblivious of the monetary aspect - saying, always with his signature calming smile - he does this for pleasure!!

Leave aside your anxiety - rely on him & he will deliver the best of the travel experience in Ladakh!! I will recommend Dorjay bhai of Active Adventures to everyone who wants to travel to Ladakh!

Worth the value and time

Amazing tour. Ladakh is stunning and our driver and guide were so kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommend you pay the extra money for a guide to explain things. We did mostly monastery tours and felt extremely grateful. We even visited the early morning meditation at a very special monastery. Communication was a bit inconsistent for some key points (we waited 20 mins for our driver at the airport exit with no cell service, he was waiting in the parking lot the whole time). It was also difficult initially to get answers via text so we ended up calling Dorjay to clear up the planned itinerary. As long as you are patient for the book keeping side of the trip, the actual tour is well worth the value and time. Thank you for a great trip!
