Kharudunga - the world's highest motorable road
Khardungla, one of place from my bucket list! Trumbling with cold & having tea in the chill weather was pleasant.❄️ No need to make time lapse for clouds. You can enjoy clouds floating ❄️ Knowing you're on the top and enjoying the view will soothe you. ❄️ Once experience yourself ❤️

    Extraordinary experience
An amazing sight to see and experience, though ours was marred by vehicular traffic and constant snowing accompanied with heavy winds. Despite the fact that the air very thin and the oxygen levels are quite low- people keep thronging the milestone to get their pictures clicked. It was a quite a crowd at such a height!! The drive from Leh via the pass is extraordinarily beautiful- everything is covered in whiteness. The sheer beauty of nature here is incomparable and definitely an experience that cannot be missed.

    Outstanding views and experience
The pass is extremely busy with tourists, we are two of them. Cars and mini buses parked any shape, queues for a photo with the height sign. Smells dirty, wouldn't recommend eating here. Altitude could obviously be an issue, 17,980 ft or 5500 metres. We had spent 3 days in Srinagar at 5000ft to start acclimatising then 4 more nights at 10500ft between Kargil and in Leh so had prepared well and did not suffer any side affects. Potholes, car swings left to right, sheer drops, but oh so well worth it for the amazing views around every turnin brilliant warm sunshine . Although quite cold outside the car, maybe under 10c. We stayed the night in Nubra valley and returned the next day. Down in the valley it was a lovely sunny day again. As we travelled up towards the pass it started raining. Rain turned to sleet. Sleet turned to snow as we climbed higher, then heavy snow sticking on the road. On the last day of June? This made for an even more interesting return journey.

    Ladakh Taxi Driver
Ladakh is of the best places to visit in India. It has one of the best scenic road routes in the world. With the help for our taxi driver Tsering Gurmat I managed to explore Ladakh with my family for 10 days - safely and enjoyable. Tsering Gurmat is very skilled and patient driver which is a must in mountain driving on high passes. He knows the routes of Ladakh in and out and very punctual. Also, he is very kind, humble and caring person. He is never in rush and always checking out our health due to fear of High-Altitude Sickness. I would recommend him for your trip to Ladakh. He was able to collect us Srinagar. You can contact Tsering Gurmat on +91 9596657805

One of the highest pass in Leh
Venture to this pass only after you acclimate in Leh. Do not take acclimating lightly as it does affect your health. It’s about 2 hour drive from Leh and lots of scenic breakpoints in between. Pass tends to get very crowded so be patient while taking pictures. About 15 minutes once you get there to enjoy the surroundings. Permits are absolutely needed to pass through. Drivers can obtain them ahead of time.

    Covered in whiteness
The Khardung La pass is an essential stop for every tourist traveling from Leh to Nubra Valley, thanks to its stunning beauty. Despite challenging weather conditions, visitors often pause to capture the scenic surroundings, forming queues to take photos at the milestone displaying the pass's impressive height. It's crucial to be mindful of the low oxygen levels at Khardung La, prompting the advice to limit the time spent at this high-altitude location. While the allure of the landscape is undeniable, prioritizing one's well-being and acclimatization to the altitude is key when making a pitstop at Khardung La pass.

The route was full of snow and we had to put a special chain in the tyres to our vehicle for passing through the snow, the cold and wind were unbearable

The weather was kind for our drive over the pass, starting in Leh.

We had an enjoyable run and were not much troubled by the few road-repair delays

Hardly any scary moments as our driver was very competent

Nice place with great view of mountains and the nearby glacier. Taken pics and move out within 10-15 mins given lack of oxygen at this height

As rightly mentioned - Mighty Khardungla. Bikers delight in just driving through the place. Make you feel you have conquered the heights. Mighty appreciation to the BRO team for maintaining the roads for tourists to visit.
