While I was on my way to Chandanwari from Pehalgam our driver stopped by and showed us Betab valley from top. Its a beautiful valley where the Bollywood Betab movie was shot and they renamed the valley. If you have time in your hand, please go down to the valley and visit once with family.

Its better that you stop over here on your way back from Chandanwari to Pahalgam and spend at least an hour or two. Earlier known as Haajan Valley was renamed to 'Betaab' valley after the the debut super hit hindi movie of Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh with some soul stirring music by the legenday music director, RD Burman. Sit, relax & soak in the freshness all around.

Nice scenic location and you can certainly spend good time there. Union taxi wala will not take you down to betab vally so insist for this. They will say that you will need to walk a lot but its not that much also. you can spend 30 min there easily and come back.

Though we viewed it from th top and never ventured to get to the Vally as it was too crowded. It is better to view from the top as you get a different feeling than going down as it has a different perspective.

Betab Valley is just 10km away from Pahalgam. Even if you have a taxi or own car, you must get down and take Union car by paying charges of Rs.1000 onwards per car. And pay another Rs.100 per person as Entrance Fee at Betab Valley. But every penny spent is worth when you see the surrounding mountains covered with snow and green pine trees everywhere. You will need gum boots to walk on the snow. These boots are available at a rent of Rs.100 per pair just outside the entrance. Ofcourse, you have to bargain. Overall, this tourist attraction is a MUST SEE.

Betaab valley in Pahalgam is full of snow in winters. Entry ticket is Rs 30. When you reach the gate the locals will surround and will ask you to take jacket and snow shoes on rent and will ask for huge amount. They will also offer you a wooden sledge to take you around the valley which is a small place. You can cover the place on your foot. If you have a good jacket and good water proof shoes then you don't need their shoes and jacket too. for me they asked for Rs 9000 for 3 people. But I paid only Rs 3000 which I later felt was also a big amount for this small place. Betab valley is more beautiful in summers. For snow you should go to Gulmarg.

Deriving its name from the famous Bollywood film Betaab shot here in 1983, one might wonder why this place was not discovered until then! The expanse is huge and a popular picnic spot for locals. Tourists can visit this place on-route their trip to Chandanbari.

Loved the horse ride to reach at betab valley. we were a group of family and friends and the path to reach there itself is so adventurous that we enjoyed it. Please do not take kids or older people as it is not that safe (its risky mountains)
