When I Srinagar, do visit this place due to its historic significance. It is on the main market area. There are so many shops selling all varieties of items you search for.You can bargain a lot to get your things. At night, when the lights are on, it increases the beauty of the place.

This place is made really beautiful and secure now feel proud to be in this historic place. If the reader has seen the movie hider they can relate the same to this place Good place for shopping and be mindful to bargain. Evening times don’t miss out to have the fish and chicken kebabs being sold at the street and it’s yummy if you have the appetite for the same. Tea shop near the jain dry fruit shop is a must visit and the snacks especially the cake puff with tea is a must have. If you have time you can even have meaning conversations with locals and they are warm and welcoming.

Good place for shopping and be mindful to bargain.

Lal Chowk is very popular name in Srinagar. This place is mostly visited by local people. Now a days tourist also visit this place, but not that popular as Dalgate. There are many reliable shops for Dry Fruits (Jain Store, Opp. Gurudwara, Kukar Bazar) is one of them. Now the renovation work is going on. Once completed it will be a must visit place.

Lal chowk

This is a very important place in Srinagar historically. For a long time it used to be an epicenter of all the unrest happening in the city. Visited this place during our recent visit to Kashmir, was glad to see that things have normalized and we could easily visit lal chowk.

For me it's must visit

Lal chowk is a market which is equally important for tourist and local,locals come here for their shopping and tourist visit here to have a chit chat with history.If ask any non kashmiri after Dal lake anyplace he would be knowing and watching regularly on TV would be Lal Chowk and it's Clock tower.The tower is illuminated with tricolor in evening which looks majestic so try to visit in evening.
The market surrounding the chowk is good ,can check for souvenirs.
