If you like to trek then its just a day hike. you can even do camping at hamta. I have seen school children going for picnics to this spot. if you cant go to long hikes and if you are short of time but still wish to trek then try this route.

We had an excellent time with a bench of Canadians. The guides and the support team just became good friends after couple of days.
The food was also excellent and not to spicy which is really important for a biking trip.
The bike were also good and checked everyday bike the mechanic.
Great job.
And of course the landscape were amazing!

I visited Manali in May 2016 with my wife & 4 yr old son. I was referred Disha & Prakash, who are both co-founders of Himalayan Challenges by a friend. Both of them facilitated the preparation for the trip from the beginning. I was looking for activities which we could undertake with our little son. Disha planned a trek for us to Hamta till Chhika which was an exhilarating experience! Truly Himalayan & extremely enjoyable. Far from the maddening rush at Mall Road or the peak tourist season traffic in Manali. Prakash was our guide & he even carried my son in his arms on a difficult terrain of the trek. My son loved the outdoor activity (being a Jungle Book fan). Prakash carried a sumptuous lunch for us (delicious sandwiches from German Bakery) & being a local, he informed us of various lesser known facts about Manali. Disha also made it a point that the trip was not too expensive & we don't miss out on anything.
I have no hesitation in saying that a trip to Himalayas is incomplete without exploring a trek through the lush green hill sides and Himalayan Challenges are your one stop solution for that wish to come true. Thanks Prakash & Disha. We look forward to seeing you on another occasion in future. A truly 5 star experience!

I'll try to keep it short. Me and wife were planning a honeymoon to Manali. I came across Himalayan Challenges on Tripadvisor and contacted Disha for a possible 1-day trek around Manali. Being March, all the treks were closed save one. She suggested we went for the the Hampta Valley Trek. She was gracious enough to confirm our trip without any advance payment. Being inexperienced at this, she provided all the necessary information regarding the stuff to take, and things to do and avoid.
On the day of the trek, we were greeted by Mr. Prakash Negi at the precise time of departure. I was really glad to be greeted by a well-spoken and mild-mannered individual. It was 45min drive on a 4x4 though twisty mountainous roads. The car was excellent and so was the driving skills of Mr. Negi. A big thanks to him for keeping us good company with his abundance of information regarding the locale, adventure sports and his humour in general. It made us feel completely at ease.
We started the hike at around 10.45am. The weather was excellent. So was the view. The hike was moderately easy. It was a bit challenging at the beginning. However, we followed Mr.Negi's footsteps (quite literally) and guidance. It was completely safe. He carried all the necessities: walking stick, water, biscuits, juice, sandwiches for us. We reached the valley at around 1pm. Had lunch under the glorious view. He also paid particular attention to not littering. And he made sure to take pictures of us so we wouldn't miss out on anything.
I highly recommend the trek and this team to anyone looking to enjoy the best views nature has to offer. Even if you are inexperienced. I have full confidence in Mrs. Disha and Mr. Prakash. They take great lengths to ensure safety and comfort while still providing enough challenges to thrill you and enjoy the spectacular views that nature has to offer.

What you need to know:
This was the best adventure guide/tour experience we had in our 2 month vacation across India, Nepal, and Bhutan. My husband and I are very experienced trekkers and world travelers, and I wholeheartedly recommend Himalayan Challenges for any adventure, large or small, you are trying to organize from either within or before arrival in India.
Read further for the major reasons why:
- Pre-arrival booking and communication: I've traveled in India multiple times and even lived there for a year previously. Its generally very challenging to book things ahead of time from out of the country without paying inflated prices and/or not having great transparency into what you are reserving. However, this time I was bringing my husband and 18 month old to India to go trekking, so just showing up and scrambling to book a high-elevation trek didn't seem like a good idea. Working with Disha was a dream. She was an exceptional communicator, and very transparent about the pros and cons of various treks and what to expect when working with Himalayan Challenges. I also did not have to negotiate at all to get a price for a private trek that was either competitive with or vastly better than other agencies who were much less professional and have poorer reviews on TripAdvisor.
- Quality of trek: We booked the Hampta Circle + Pass as a private trek for my husband and I and our 18 month old daughter. My husband and I are highly experience trekkers, so this was primarily meant to be an acclimatization trek before we made our way up to Leh to trek around Ladakh. I actually didn't have high expectations for trek because its so popular - but was really blown away by its diversity, beauty, and long sections that felt much more remote than I expected. The pass itself is high enough to give a sense of accomplishment, you are surrounded by stunning stark mountain landscapes. We especially appreciated Disha encouraging us to add the several days of the Hampta Circle trek to the actual pass. Starting at a lower elevation meant we say ZERO other trekkers the first 2.5 days, and gave us a much better sense of the small villages around Manali and the diversity of flora and fauna. Our daughter loved the shepherds camps, goats, and water buffalo encountered on the trail.
- Quality of guiding: Disha's husband Prakash was our guide, lucky us! He is extremely experienced in guiding and trekking, and knows the region like the back of his hand. In particular he appreciated his knowledge of the less popular sites to camp, he did a great job getting us away from the larger tour groups when we got into the popular Hampta Pass section. Since it was the end of the season Disha also came too with their adorable dog. Initially I wasn't sure how I felt about this since it was booked as a private tour - but about 10 minutes into the trek I LOVED IT. Disha was amazing with our 18 month old, and having the two of them leading the trek meant the highest service was delivered by the cook, cooks helper, and pony man. I don't know how reflective this is of what people experience on a trek without the owners present, but they certainly seem to have access to great trekking staff and were highly respected.
- the Cook: I know I just spoke about the staff, but I'm speaking to this separately because he was that amazing. The man was a magician, its unbelievable the meals he cooked and the cozy tent/dining scene he set up. Some of the best food we ate on our whole vacation.
- camping gear: This really matters in an often cold and rainy place. The stuff was top notch, from tent, to waterproof bags, to sleeping bags, to dining tent, to hiking poles.
- Attitude towards the environment: Disha and Prakash were extremely thoughtful about what they carried into the trek, how they handled trash (and picked up the trash of other groups), and the impact of our campsites. There are other tour guides that are having a devastating impact on this beautiful area, so PLEASE do your research carefully before booking. Is it really worth saving a bit of money if you are ruining this special place? We saw several MASSIVE groups, not only did their tents, latrines, and horses turn pristine areas into churned up fairgrounds, they also were consistently the groups that left tons of trash that will never decompose behind. Please, please don't support tour guides like that, your business is this best way of discouraging those kinds of practices.

The trip was planned by us only. Himalayan challenges provided us with the bicycles and other equipments like carrier, tents, sleeping bags. The cycles were in good condition.
My overall experience with Himalayan Challenges was 8/10 due to the slightly higher rents.

We had the most amazing experience doing canyoning with Prakash and Panna. It was the first time that we were doing it, and they were both very professional and reassuring. We created a great relationship with them. And the canyoning experience is the most fantastic radical sport we've ever tried. We climbed down 4 small waterfalls, and each one was more fun than the other. If you come to Manali, please don't loose this unbelievable experience!!

I had a great experience of trekking with Himalayan Challenges. Experienced professional trek guide, and staff made the trek an unforgettable experience for us. The trek was GREAT! Beautiful views, snowy mountains, green fields and terraces. Since we were first time trekkers Prakash who is the owner of Himalayan Challenges also came with us. He was very helpful and gave us lots of information. Considering that we were in the wild we were always well fed.
The entire team was very co-operative and enthusiastic. We strongly recommend Himalayan Challenges for any kind of adventure trek or tour in Manali.

Hi Piyush,
Thank you for contacting us regarding prices for camping. If it's only camping that you are looking for it will be about Rs. 1200 per person.
But if you are looking for trekking for 7 to 8 days the price would depend on the trek and no. of days. For details or to book anything please contact us on via email on info@himalayanchallenges
Thank you!
