Please purchase water proof boots in Manali, near mall road.
25th Dec'24 was my visit to Solang. It was a bike ride with my brother. It was a sunny day though the valley was covered with snow, as the day before there was a snow shower.
This valley will be full of people as it hosts a lot of snow activities. Not all activities are good, try para-gliding.( I was denied as my wait was above 50kg for that wind). Maggie and Momos were good. You will get beautiful snow pics. High landscapes are very beautiful.
Go for Anjani Mahadev temple. Half way you can go by walk, but after which you have to opt for wleither a.t.v bike or horse ride. We went by a.t.v bike (1000/-). You need to climb 20-25 steps on snow with only socks. During our visit, the shivaling and nandi were covered with snow, whicj looked like Amarnath. The ice there is very skiddy.. Boots you purchase on the way to Solang will not be useful. Our normal Campus sports shoes were kind of ok..gave good grip.

Solang valley was a great experience for natural beauty and adventure activities. Please don't miss the Anjani Mahadev trek/ATV ride. Also the ropeway ride leaves you at a hill top point with lots of snow to enjoy. The service providers and drivers/support staff is good and let you enjoy with reasonable cost. Facilities like parking, traffic management, and sewage system can be better and that's why it's a 4 star. Otherwise it's an absolutely amazing experience.

This is a great place but it is over crowded. This robs the beauty of the place.
Please avoid this place during public holidays that make long weekends. Most people from Delhi end up there.
There are many activities like paragliding, there. The hot air balloons there are a scam.
Anjani Mahadev Mandir is the star of the place.

We took a road trip with family from delhi to manali in a smal car Alto k10. Road condition is good except in some places at hill. But one can drive comfortably. Even night drive was good in hills if u r consciously driving. Mesmerising valley views enroute.

Solang Valley is an absolute gem for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike! Surrounded by breathtaking snow-capped peaks and lush green meadows, this valley offers a perfect mix of scenic beauty and thrilling activities.
One experience you absolutely shouldn’t miss is the ropeway ride. It’s an incredible way to soak in the panoramic views of the valley from above. As you ascend, you get a bird’s-eye view of the stunning landscape, making it a surreal and unforgettable experience. Whether you visit in summer or winter, the ride offers a completely different but equally mesmerizing perspective.
For adventure enthusiasts, Solang Valley also has paragliding, skiing (in winter), ATV rides, and much more. But even if you’re here just to relax and take in the views, the ropeway is the best way to it

We traveled to Manali in the month of Feb as a family (a couple + two young kids). Solang valley was a top attraction for us. Unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming. We got caught up in the infamous traffic jam on the way to Solang and were stuck in a taxi for close to 4 hours. We also got fleeced by a 'package agent' at a snow dress shop on the way up. My advice to future travelers:
1. Leave as early as possible. Don't listen to your taxi driver who will suggest that we must leave a little late to allow the ice to melt on the roads. waiting for the ice to melt on the roads early may be better than being stuck in traffic jams later in the day. The taxi driver is probably incentivized to make sure his partner package agents/dress shops on the way to Solang are opened by the time we get there.
2. Do NOT purchase a package at the dress shops that your driver will invariably stop on the way to Solang. The rides are dirt cheap and terribly simple to get once on the top. For example, the agent will offer skiing at INR 1000/pax, whereas the true rate with the actual operators on top can be as low as INR 200/pax. The package agent will also promise a 'guide' (appealing for a family with young kids..), but it's not needed; plus, we didn't get the promised guide anyways. It was a total scam. The drivers probably get a cut of the agent's fees.
3. The highlight - and for some reason, all the local adventure operators dissuade visitors from partaking- must be the cable car. Taking you to the mountain top, where you can enjoy pristine snow, is a 100% must-do item in my book. It was the only thing I could vouch for as being 'worth it' in Solang Valley. An added benefit of the cable car, but one that is a little tragic considering the number of tourists, is that the only restroom in Solang valley seemed to be on top of the mountain, so you can use the restroom once you get off the cable car on the top.

Our stay (Allure Grand) lied on the way to Solang which was not that far away from our stay. Must say it’s better than Rohtang Pass if you aim to play with snow, have some good scenic photos & must go for romantic couples. You need to hire closed jackets and rubber boots to enjoy snow play & cool weather there. You will find many places in route where you can hire these accessories from 250-350 rupees. It’s preferable to take taxi which can drop you to last point in the valley. We were not that lucky as our driver dropped at the earliest point. We opted not to chose any horse/ motor bike ride and preferred to enjoy some private moments with family. View there is magnificent & breath taking to take family or couple photos. Also got lucky to experience some light snow fall and enjoy fun filled good quality with family.

Lovely place to visit in December. completely covered in snow. Breathtaking landscape, several snow activities, including Skiing, sledging, para gliding and tube slides, though some seems a bit more dangerous on a crowded day with low level of supervision. Take a cable car to the mountain top which is bit expensive but one can capture some beautiful pictures away from the crowds. The road to the valley from Manali town is narrow as one goes up, and on the day before the Christmas we experienced 4 hours in terrible traffic each way. Parking is disorganized closer to the valley. in such a situation better to take a snow scooter ride which will take you to the top through short cuts. Horse ride is another option. perhaps ride a yak ? dont forget to clad yourself with a snow suit, which one can hire from many shops on the road to the valley.Though we do not know how clean or hygenic they are after being used several times.Warm clothing and shoes to walk on snow is a must as the temperatures are minus 7-8. The only cafe at the bottom of cable car serves classy hot food and drinks and a resting place for seniors till the young ones take part in adventurous activities.I wish the Manali City authorities will arrange for disciplined vehicle parking areas before the highest point and arrange shuttle service to avoid unnecessary long traffic blocks which spoils the fun.

I am a foreigner looking for paragliding in Solang. Two questions. I am in Manali at this writing. Do I need to find transportation, or will providers in Manali give me a ride? Second, I'm 74 years old. I recently rafted safely in white water in Nepal, and I live an active lifestyle. Will I be able to find a provider? I would prefer Solang to Kullu, which struck me as very crowded.

Yes, you can do it. January month sometimes Manali Solang Valley road are closed due to heavy snow fall. If road are open then you easily visit there with 7 year kid.
