This place is known for river rafting, but it is past news now. With the new dam in place, all the rapids are now gone. Now they take you to a place almost 36km upstream, from where the rafting of 24km starts. As the rapids have reduced, so you won't find too much excitement, only 8-10 medium levels rapids in... Last week visited the place to start River Rafting. As being told, because of Satluj dam ahead, the water level has increased lot, so no more rapids, it looks like kids play. But good for first timer to get knack of rafting, building courage for next adventurous rapids in any other place. Hot water springs as well missing due to... More

I had visited Tattapani prior to building of dam so took for the drive from Naldhera. Drive is amazing with beautiful scenic views. But had mixed feelings once reached the town. There's a huge reservoir in place of the river now. The naturally available hot springs on banks of the river had submerged. Only option I heard about was a... More

When we went, the river was flooded.. and the sky was cloudy ... very beautiful and calm.. this is a small town.. nothing much to do here.. however the road to tattapani is very beautiful and offers awesome sights.. almost 50 minutes drive from Naldehra.. saw a lot of signage for rafting.. not sure that would happen when the river... Yes, it is true that due to the dam the water stream has become minimal and the name tattapani (hot water) has lost its meaning now. However the view is scenic and beauty beholds in the eye of beholder.

Tattapani is no longer a destination for natural hot springs. After the dam has been built there is no sulphur water pond left. If you plan to go then please stay at Naldera. The rafting is also okay and not that great due to the dam.

The Satluj rapids here are very average, but the views while rafting are very nice. The rafting cost pp ranges from Rs 500 to 1,000, depending on your negotiation skills. The hot springs in Hotel Hot Springs are worth it at Rs 350 pp (or Rs 200 pp for residents of their sister concern New Spring View guest house) or... More
