Focusses on the Gaikwad royal family history and how this palace was built. The armoury section is something interesting to go through. There is a very good audio guide that explains each and every item in the palace tour. Worth a visit.

Good nice palace with equally huge gardens and its own golf course. Though only a very very small part of the entire palace is open for public display. They have good AV and give you the Device with earphones to listen entire history & details about the Palace, its history, Royal Family and many things. It hoes on & on for more than 2 hrs. However you just need 30-40 min to look at the area we are allowed to enter. They have a nice small kiosk cafe inside. Overall good.

A good place to visit while at Vadodara. The visitors are allowed in a small part of the Palace. Different rooms have different exhibits, which are well kept and labelled. A complimentary audio guide helps you understand the exhibits. You have to choose the language - English, Hindi or Marathi. Photography is allowed only outside but not inside. You can see the exhibits at your own pace. Please allow about 2 hours. I would certainly recommend a visit to the Palace when in Vadodara.

It's been months since I've visited this place, but the grandeur of the Darbar hall is something I'm not still over! I had opted for the MP3 audio guide (the earphones need to be improved) so it was quite easy to navigate. The palace is quite beautiful and a lovely place to explore. I was excited to see the vav (the step-well) but they have taken it off the list, and we can't visit those parts of the ground anymore. I had a cup of coffee and spent some time journaling at the tiny cafe inside the palace grounds. I spent 3 hours on the palace grounds before heading to the Fatehsingh museum.

If you are in Baroda then this IS the place to visit. The entry fee is peanuts compared to what you get to see. The Durban hall is jaw dropping and you get to see around 7 original Ravi Verma paintings. The armoury has a dagger that belonged to Aurangzeb . They also have a collection of water swords- these were dipped in poison water during the manufacturing process. The place has around 150 rooms but you will get to see a handful. The audio guide has 11 stops but it was made with a lot of care. You will be able to finish it within 2 hours unless you are visiting the nearby step well. I just wish the fountain in the courtyard was working. The audio guide said it’s in working condition. And the entrance needs more upkeep. You don’t want the pigeons to sit on the priceless art objects. Ignore the staff working in the palace. They are borderline rude. If you are into art and want to see more Ravi Verma paintings then visit the Fateh Singh Museum.
