I missed carrying a good camera so had to make do with my mobile camera that really didn't do justice to the architectural marvel that it was. Wear comfortable footwear as there are a large number fo stairs...about 86-odd, each way! Short visit - just about an hour plus should do. When we went, it was super crowded with more... More

Adalaj Step-well, the best stepped reservoir in Gujarat, was built by order of Rudabai, the wife of a local ruler, to preserve water and rest in coolness. Here, around, beautiful playgrounds and galleries are built. It's amazing how skillful the ancient builders were!

Adalaj stepwell is one of the stunning example of indo-islam fusion architechtral work...nice place to visit as it is has its own importance in Gujarat history...just the maintenence part to be improved...rest all is good.

Located on the outskirt of Ahmedabad towards Mehsana on main highway. Bearly 200 m inside the highway. Must visit place for lovely architect. More than 1000 year old but well maintained.

You must go and check out this place, you would find peace and calmness. I love being in the place for many hours talking to my friends and just sitting on the stairs.

Beautiful visit, interesting architecture with intricate stone carvings but not as beautiful as the Rani Ki Vav in Patan The 4-direction entrance, with the 4 small rooms with balconies are quite quaint Nice octogonal view from the bottom looking up The advantage is that it is closer to Ahmedabad than the Patan one.
