Had a full day private tour of south Goa and it included Bigfoot. I think the good intentions are wonderful but to be honest, it’s just plain strange. I suppose if you knew nothing about Goa or India or village life, it could be educational.

An interesting museum which illustrates traditional crafts and industries in Goa. Nice statue displays or fishing, blacksmiths, weddings, religious life. Many others too. There is a loud speaker description given in Hindi, but there are English labels on each display.

Good photocard display of the birds of Goa - very informative.

Dotted around are various shops. The tale of Bigfoot is told and a nearby replica of the site is present. There is an art gallery with 10 or so paintings - I didn't understand them and there were no titles or commentary.

Worth a visit.

We deliberately visited the Ancestral Goa aka Big Foot Museum , to understand the Goan rural life as it was a hundred years ago , run by an artist , Maendra Jocelino Araujo Alvares at a small village Loutolim 17.5 km away from Majestic Beach Comforts , Varca on 23rd Feb .

We were traditionally greeted by the receptionist .

Here we could witness the social classes and traditional occupations showcased in miniature houses . It was very enjoyable to see the daily chorus of the people .

We ended the visit by appreciating a mammoth sculpture of Sant Mirabai strumming on her tambura , measuring 14 m x 5 m , chiselled in Greco - Roman style from a vast expanse of laterite by Alvares in 30 days , cited in the Limca Book of Records .

A guide is provided to explain the exhibits . The museum is open on all days from 9 am to 6 pm . The entry fee is Rs 50 /- for adults , Rs 25 /- for children and Rs 20 /- for still camera .
