Nice place,nice gardens.
You take a bus from Margao to the last stop then hire a motorcycle with a driver and have him wait for you then return to the bus stop.

There's a zoo inside the sanctuary; a ticket to visit both today cost INR100, whereas just the zoo cost INR50. The zoo's "down" a few animals--no bear, no tiger, no hippo; but the leopards are beautiful, and the forest cats, and the gaur, and the deer and snakes. I'd heard there might be an elephant somewhere in the neighborhood but didn't find one anywhere. (I self-drove.)

The sanctuary has a few trails one can walk. I parked at the "dronga trail" trailhead and walked from there (on the ~2.5km "dam-to-gate" trail) to the sanctuary front gate, then hitched a ride with another visitor back to our car. Saw a pair of grey hornbills quite close-up.

We had a wonderful, long morning birding with Omkar Dharwadkar (of Mryugaya Xpeditions) in Bondla sanctuary and surroundings. Omkar was a remarkable guide - so knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna, not just birds, so swift to identify the different species and get birds into view using his spotting scope - which was important especially for our friend, Nisha, who is a birding novice. We also got the one "lifer" we were hoping for (Malabar Woodshrike). In total we found 87 species in the morning, including some quite rare and shy birds.

Omkar was also a lovely person to spend time with and we'd recommend him, without hesitation, for any bird guiding in Goa.

It's a small zoo, but journey to this place is quite good if you are driving own vehicle, number of animals too less.

Quite long journey but great to connect with Dudsagar and plantation trip. Big area, good to walk, not so much to see. I fall in love to kaurs - big pisons, the national animal of GOA.
Go and just look at them...
Really wow! I would like to go back to sence them more!

Small and lovely ZOO with a few wild animals. We enjoyed calm walk. ZOO is clean and tidy. We visited in August and it was almost empty.

For Goa standards this place is nice. I'm not one for visiting caged animals but the kids wanted to see what a zoo is like. It's not expensive and you need about an hour and half once you're there. There were wildboars, emus, leopards, bison, porcupines, peacocks, a bear, crocodiles, a bunch of different snakes and a whole bunch of birds (which really don't need to be caged). For a one time visit it is fine.

Amazing sanctuary. Very rich in birds. We spotted almost 9-10 different species here. Despite the hot summer whether, we were pretty comfortable inside the forest, due to the thick green cover. If you are a birding enthusiast, you can easily spend the entire day over here without getting tired or bored. Definitely a must visit place for birders.
