Fortim-do-Mar is a former Diu Jail, built by Portuguese and is located exactly at the opening of the creek and has a small chapel devoted to Our Lady of the Sea and a lighthouse. Personal Note: Tourists are not allowed now to visit this place but you can see the white opulent structure from the Diu Fort. I have rated... More

The white coloured building in the midst of the sea is visible from the fort and can be reached by a motor boat. It has been closed to visitors. Shaped like a boat, it is very eye catching the white stone structure standing out against the blue sea. A lighthouse stands towering over the building.

The Paani Kothia is open for general public. A boat cruise around Diu harbour area, si what will get you closer for a good view of Fortim-do-Mar. This ws the place, where Portuguese kept prisoners and I feel, that the Govt should have made this accessible to general public, with whaterver restrictions needed be.

Couldn't reach there did to restricted access but the structure looks great and had been implanted wisely then to keep prisoners there. They say there are underwater canals as hidden routes for entry and exit. The bollywood movie starring Ajay devagan Qayamat was shot here as well.

It is described as a jail by most guides and is a magnificent structure which draws attention the moment you step into the fort. It is however a water storage area as it is the only place where in the middle of the sea there is a fresh water spring. Did not go by boat to it though wish had... More

Fortim-do-Mar is also called 'PaniKotha'. It has a ship like shape which really looks beautiful. This place is not for public. This famous monument has an excellent stone structure. Standing right at the opening of the creek, this monument boasts of a fabulous lighthouse and small chapel consecrated to Our Lady of the Sea.

The local called it Pani Kottha. Panikotha is a fortress in the middle of the sea. It was main prison complex at the time when the Portuguese ruled Diu,
