Thumbura theertham is piligrim place , I had visited this place after hearing a lot from one of my friend. It is beyond my expectation and a must see place.
We have to go with a special permission from the forest department or on special days ( 4 times in a year) . The forest department will allow people only in groups. Its almost 8 km from papanasanam ( dam) We have to literally trek through deep forest and on the edges of the hills. The entire walk will be a great experience.
The main place is between two mountains seperated with a simple walk way and in betwen you need to wade through water upto your waist. The way is a bit slippery. The rocks are slippery and wet and you will be walking between two mountains of about 60 to 70 ft high sharp slopes etc. The main area is about 800 mtrs walk which will be a life time experience.
There are some pools with different depths and we can get in for a swim. teh water is fresh and clear and have a lot of medicinal values.
The entire walk back is a tidies experience as we need to walk uphill . One will get exhausted and need to carry a lot of water.

One should always stay on the tirumala hills, whenever you happen to visit alaji temple in Tirupati, which we did not as no body suggested the same. The visit to Tirupati statrted with a journey to the tirumala hill top and the road to tirupati temple was very well maintained. The temple complex was very beautiful from all sides. Luckily for us there was not much crowd still it took us two hours for the darshanam. But the sad part was that we were not allowed to stand in front of statue of Balaji for even two seconds and pushed out from the view by the persons managing the entry and my wife started weping at being give such a treatment after so much of travel all the way from Bangalore.

Situated at a distance of 12 km from Tirumala and 7 km from Papavinasanam, Thumburu Theertham holds the story of a gandharva who cursed his wife for her laziness. As per the legend, the lady became a toad who had to survive in the pond till sage Agasthya came there with his disciples. While the great sage described the divinity of the pond to his disciples, the toad regained her Gandharva form and hence this teertham began to be called as Tumburu teertham. It is one of the popular places to visit in Tirumala at a distance of 12 km from Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple.
It can be reached by 7 Kms walk from Papa Vinasanam & Kalyani Dam point through stony path. Generally the route is open to public every year on Palguna Poornima in the month of March. There are about five waterfalls on the way to this place.
No food/water is available on the way to this place, so you should carry some.

This ancient religious site won my heart, owing to its majestic rock-cut caves, religous carvings on the stone-heaps and the natural ambience.
