Loved the early morning Heritage walk with the family. If you plan to see Charminar, Chowmahalla palace (incl. the Rolls Royce that the Nizam used as dustbins), go for this walk!

Telangana Tourism conducts one of four "Walking Tours" by rotation on Sunday mornings - our tour began at the Charminar at 7.30 am, with the Guide giving us some background flavour of Hyderabad and then leading us through narrow winding lanes till we reached the Chowmahalla Palace. It was relatively uncrowded, being a Sunday morning and our very knowledgeable Guide provided useful insights into the lifestyles of the ruling families of the days when Char Minar, Golconda Fort and various palaces were built in and around Hyderabad. The numerous small shops and dwelling places that clutter the entire area around the Char Minar, left one wondering whether it wouldn't be possible to relocate them to the Basement level, leaving neat and clean lanes and alleys at the Ground Level, to enhance the tourists' viewing experience of the historical structures and the various architectural styles on display. The Tour was a steal, considering that the fee of INR 50 also includes a modest breakfast at the end of the Tour.
