We were after getting some tropical fruits and were very disappointed with the market's selection. The fish market was disappointing as well. Smelly, with old frozen fish stored in filthy, poorly maintained freezers. No ice. Nothing fresh.
I have visited this market several times while staying in Savusavu. There is a wide variety of fresh local produce and many very friendly folks selling there. The sellers are very helpful and informative.

This is rural Fiji at its best. The food is seasonal so what is available will depend on the growing season and the weather. We were lucky to get fresh fish but that also depends on whether boats have been out.
