- ReynoldsBedworth, United Kingdom1 contributionAn unforgettable day in Ras Mohammed National Park with BassemRas Mohammed National Reserve is a natural reserve and it is the second most beautiful natural reserve in the world after Australia. It is the number one reserve in Egypt, with an area of about 480 kilometers, land and sea. Within the reserve there are many places such as Panorama, the Rocky Gate of God, and trees. Crimea, the earthquake cleft, the enchanted lake, the salt lake, Lion’s Head, the salt lake, snorkeling in the two best places away from the crowds, Yolande Reef, and the shark observatory, Ras Mohammed rock, delicious lunch in the Bedouin tent, fresh mango drink and water throughout the day, all provided. Snorkeling equipment, underwater photography, all of this was provided by Bassem, the truly expert guide No. 1. He is very knowledgeable about Ras Mohammed. He gave us a more beautiful day than we could have wanted. This is his number +201553050376. In fact, I do not like writing comments, but Bassem deserves it. Thank you Bassem. Once again, we will come back. Once again, I recommend it to all people who want a relaxing and exciting day away from the crowdsVisited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 December 2023
- DarconLondon, United Kingdom261 contributionsBeautiful blues of the red seaDefinitely a must do activity when out and about in Sharm. Really surprised by the clear, blue, turquoise, dark blues in this part of the world. A trip to the white island by boat was a great way to see the red seas beauty and also stay above water in the middle of a sea! The entrance fee was reasonable too at only $5 per person.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 December 2023
- Caitlin S1 contributionBest guide in sharm el sheikh! We spent the day with Basseem at the national park and could not recommend any more! Was collected from our hotel and driven through all the main points of the park. He is so lovely and friendly letting us know the historical facts of each point as well as providing fresh mango and strawberry smoothies along the way. Took us to a private beach to snorkel, had the entire beach ourselves and spent 2 hours on the coral reef guided by Basseem. My boyfriend was a strong swimmer but he pulled me along the whole way back. Went for lunch at the Bedouin tent afterwards followed by some more snorkelling. The best guide in Sharm el sheikh! You can reach him on +20 155 305 0376 on WhatsApp, won’t regret it!Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 December 2023
- Claire-Louise G12 contributionsAmazing snorkelling trip with a private guideHighly recommended a visit to Ras Mohammed National park. We arranged a private trip through the highly recommended Bassem, who was absolutely brilliant. He picked us early from our hotel and we had a full day of sightseeing, with two of the most incredible snorkelling experiences in Yolanda Reef, Shark Reef and Shark observatory. Given Bassem is a professional diver, at no time did we feel unsafe as he guided us through the underwater beauty of these incredible reefs. The are was quite as tourist boats are not allowed to stop and drop anchor there. As well as seeing the salt lake and mangroves, it was finished off with a delicious late lunch in a bedouin camp. Many thanks Bassem. Genuine review for trip advisor.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 December 2023
- s m387 contributionsGood if you do not come as a tour groupRent a car or hire a driver for the day, bring snorkeling & beach gear and have a great time. Seriously avoid the tour group, pay a bit extra to get here on your own and enjoy the full day. Tour groups bring you to four or five stops. But the two beaches and snorkeling at your leisure are well worth the slightly extra expense of getting here yourself. The main beach is not bad. But the snorkeling is pretty awesome for near shore. Avoid the tour groups to explore the reef at your leisure, bring lifejackets to float and explore extra long up the beach. Make sure you make it up to the hidden cove. The other good area is the saline lake, higher salinity, but very smooth especially for small kids. There are a few trails for some mild hiking. Despite there being campsites, I received different answers if camping was open or overnight was permitted.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 January 2024
- Lorrainejlondon2London, United Kingdom1,046 contributionsBest group activity I have ever done.We booked this through our hotel and was the best thing we done in Egypt. This has been my experience of a lifetime, we did snorkeling with the kids and went to the naturals parks . Im not a strong swimmer so I held onto the rubber ring with the swimming guide all the way into the sea. I panicked in the water and asked to return to shore but as he only had 1 rubber dingy we couldnt go back. The strong swimmers would also come over to use the rubber ring when they were tired. I am so glad I listened to the guard and relaxed in the water as I am so proud of my achievement. I have been home for 3 days ond we are still talking about it. You do have to pay extra for life jackets and equipment, but this is money well spent. We are happy to serve you in Yalla Sharm and we are happy to see you in good health and happinessWritten 17 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 February 2024

The Ras Mohammed National Park is truly an unforgettable place, full of surprises and enchanting places and preserves one of the least damaged coral reefs. A perfect place to spend a day dedicated to the desert, the beach and snorkelling.
It is possible to visit it with an organized tour (prices from 35 to 50 euros per person), accompanied by a tour guide privately (around 130 euros) or rent a car and go alone.
We have chosen this last solution, more suitable for travelers who, like us, love independence and shopping! The roads are excellent, all three lanes in each direction and the driving is absolutely in line with European countries. The cost of the highway is 34 LE one way and 25 L and the return, in the park. The entrance is 5 usd per person and the same for the car (it is advisable to have local currency with you because otherwise they apply an exchange rate euro dollar 1/1). Even inside the park the roads, even if partially unpaved, are passable with a small car without any problem (the SUV that they will recommend to you at the car rental and which costs a little more is not absolutely necessary, just drive carefully).
After passing the entrance, head towards the visitor center, where you can find a museum with scientific information on the formation of corals and the characteristics of the park, a restaurant and an equipped beach.
Then follow the very clear directions that will lead you to the places of interest (Gate of Allah, earthquake, mangroves and snorkelling sites) you will be amazed! We entered the water at Yolanda beach from which however reaching the reef is a bit difficult and therefore I do not recommend it to those who are not expert swimmers and Shark Rock, where we were able to see one of the most interesting walls in Egypt and we met a Napoleon fish and a shark! I confess that although I have been coming to Egypt for 30 years and have been diving for just as long, I had never seen the Ras Mohammed natural park from land and it really enchanted me.

Did this trip with Aquarius who although more expensive than others I believe offered better. When compared to other boats lined up we had a lot more space on board and all equipment was in the price unlike others.
We did 3 stops, I didn’t get off on the 3rd but others on my party did. The first stop we snorkelled among the fish by the coral the sea was pretty rough but I still felt safe. It was amazing once I started to relax and enjoy the underwater view!
The 2nd stop was White Island, the pics were amazing that i took as I got closer the sea was turquoise. However actually getting to White Island was a nuisance from the boat. It was easy to stand up in but not with flippers on! Or to walk! But then taking them off I was standing on hard rock. The island was a tiny amount of sand surrounded by lovely shallow water but quickly got bored despite the view.
The 3rd stop I was told was the best but I was too busy sunbathing on board! The sea was a lot calmer at this point.
Overall although I have said some bad points the whole experience was amazing and once in a lifetime and would defo recommend

We are a family of 4 people and two children. After reviewing the comments here on Trip Advisor we found Bassem, this is his WhatsApp number +201553050376, he was together step by step, gave us everything, Bassem agreed to move early before the crowd, Bassem picked us up at 8.00 am from the hotel and then we went to Snorkeling equipment shop, they took goggles and fins, then Bassem insisted that we take a wet suit because he knows the water is cold this day, then we moved to Ras Mohammed. Bassem explained all the places we see and we go by car from the hotel until we reached Ras Mohammed then we went to the first stop which is Bab Allah, Bassem was a really good photographer who took the most beautiful pictures for us, then we went to the second stop which is the mangroves, then to the earthquake fault which was amazing Extremely. He explained it as depth and time, and then to the enchanted lake to take pictures. Then to Lion's Head Rock, the salt lake, and then go to the first snorkeling spot, which is Yoland Reef, Anmon City, Shark Reef. After snorkeling, we sat on the beach. Bassem served us fresh mango and strawberry drinks. Then he went to the rock of Ras Mohammed, we climbed the mountain and used binoculars to see Sharm El Sheikh, and after we finished we went snorkeling again. Bassem took some underwater photos and said it was free, then we went to the Bedouin tent and Bassem served us a delicious lunch in the Bedouin tent. That everyone around me, in Ras Mohammed loves Bassem because he is so nice and friendly After lunch, Bassem took us to relax on the pillow while we were drinking tea. After that, Basem offered to go into the water again, but after eating and relaxing, we couldn't swim again. Then back to the hotel at 16:20. Thank you Bassem for a day I will never forget. +201553050376 If you are in Sharm El Sheikh write to him on WhatsApp and you will never regret it. I highly recommend it

Snorkeling the reefs, followed by the visit to White island. Truly an amazing and beautiful day. The dive guides were awesome and they helped my wife who is a total non-swimmer get in the water, which was WAY over head, and guide her around the coral reef so she could enjoy the magnificent beauty of the fish life below. They even helped her swim to White island, and literally would not have her remain on the boat just to watch everyone else. A wonderful day on the beautiful Red Sea

Tour with friends and with a private guide. The park is also very interesting in the internal area, which is why I recommend reaching it by land by minibus. Our local guide behaved badly, but this does not detract from the beauty of the park. Lunch in Bedouin veranda with local foods and two snorkeling dives in coral reefs of different depths, swimming in the salt lake, AR transfer from the hotel, €49 per person, including children

Unfortunately this area is over used
We wer lined up along side at least 7 other boats .
I have done snorkeling in 3 other parts of Egypt and thay wer all better .
Water was not clear because of the sheer numbers of people.
I honestly this you can see more fish if you snorkel at your own hotel resort around 6am .

What you really want in Ras Mohamed National Park is an experienced and professional guide like Bassem, the local guide who lives in Sharm El Sheikh and knows everything about the area. At first I wanted to go to Ras Mohammed. Having read the good reviews about Basim here on Trip Advisor, I decided to write him right away. On WhatsApp +201553050376, he answered promptly and answered all my questions. Starting the day at the hotel, Bassem picked us up at 8:00 AM. We went to the snorkeling equipment store, then to Ras Mohammed. We went to many places, and Basim explained everything to us thoroughly about all these places, like a panorama. God's Gate, Mangroves, Earthquake Fault, Enchanted Lake, Salt Lake, Lion's Head, We went swimming in the best places in Ras Mohammed, such as Anmon Town, Yoland Reef, Shark Reef, and Shark Observatory. Away from the company's trips, away from the crowds, and after finishing, Bassem gave us Taza mango juice with delicious bananas, after that we went to lunch in the Bedouin tent, and the food was very tasty, then we drank Bedouin tea and relax a little, then we return to the hotel. 5 star service. Thank you Bassem for a day that my family and I will never forget. I recommend it to everyone, you will never regret it.

We went on the boat day trip. For the price it was good, and surprisingly uncrowded. There is a lot to see, but I was concerned that the six people on our boat that wanted to go scuba diving had never done it before. One woman couldn't even swim! The ocean is no place to practice something like that for the first time. I couldn't recommend one boat as there were 35-40 near-identical boats all cruising out of the harbour at the same time and all going to the same places.

Two questions...
First, during first week of december(ish), how (un)comfortable is the water temperature?
Second, for divers who photograph underwater: On Ras Mohammad, using my GoPro, should I use the red filter or should I go with the magenta? Thanks!!

Nikki, it is open all year for SCUBA diving. There is a small extra fee from the government passed onto the dive clubs which is added to your dive package. It’s a must “add on” when diving Sharm.
