The area of Las Grietas is gorgeous. The trail alone meanders through a backwater estuary full of crabs and waterbirds like Herons. The narrow ravine and fresh water/salt water mixture of Las Grietas are intriguing. In some light, the photography opportunities are stunning. But the amount of people traveling to and fro, especially on weekends and late in the afternoons... More

A 25 minute walk brings you to Ls Grietas, a fissure filled with water for swimming and snorkelling in. We went here with three children aged 7, 10 and 12. There is some rock scrambling if you want to get to the end of the fissure so reef shoes might be useful. Water is cool but refreshing.

it is a short walk from the dock after a one dollar boat ride from santa cruz. it was unexpected to see how beautiful it was and unique. the water was somewhat cold but more than welcomed due to the heat.

Amazing place for a swim .must see. Bit of a walk to get there but well worth it. When you are hot and the water is so nice and cold you will love it. Short walk and water taxi ride from the main pier

I was nervous about coming here because a lot of people I'd met said they went and it was really crowded. We arrived at about 8 am on a Sunday. While there was one family already there (locals I think), they were not swimming. We hopped in and had the swim all to ourselves. There are three pools, the middle... More

This is a beautiful place to see. The water is crystal clear and much cooler than the ocean. Get there earlier in the day as it gets crowded with tour groups and other visitor. Don't be afraid to venture beyond the first group of rocks. Snorkeling is OK. Water is very clear but not many different types of fish/aquatic animals... More

It was a bit crowed to say the least; but once you are in that cold and refreshing water on forgets everything. The rocks are astounding and the depth of the water. Worth the trip

We visited Las Grietas as part of a bay tour that we booked through Galapagos Aquatours. The water was crystal clear and very refreshing for a hot day. The scenery was beautiful. Make sure you bring a waterproof camera.

Get there as early in the morning as possible to have the place to yourselves, we arrived at 8am and it was empty. Beautiful crystal clear water but don't expect to see much except big fish. And after 20m or so it looks like the end, but it's not! Climb over the rocks to keep on exploring :) Great if... More

A must see in the Galapagos!! You have to hide there on kind of rough terrain (not a hard hike, just rocks and stuff), so be sure to wear good, durable walking shoes! The place is just gorgeous though, and after the hike the cold water is so refershing!
