We are celebrating our 50th anniversary and decided to take our whole family on a trip they would all remember. We went to the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador and had a fabulous time. We were on the National Geographic Endeavour and had the most wonderful Certified Galapagos Island National Park Guides. We saw many of the birds... More

It was a bit of a hike. We told the taxi we would be back in an hour not realizing we would have to walk at least 20 minutes round trip, so if you want more than 30 minutes there tell the taxi 1.5 to 2 hours. Anyhow, it was a lovely Beach but what made it worth it for... More

The beach was a bit of a hike from the main port on San Cristobal, but worth it if you want to spend a few hours there. The cab ride was pretty expensive and it was raining when we went, but still a beautiful sight. There were quite a bit of sea lions hanging out there too.

We went all the way to Punta Pitt, but didn't see any Blue Footed Boobies. Yet we saw a small group up close on the hill just above Puerto Chino Beach as well as a group of Frigate Birds. The visibility for snorkeling here is ok and you will see a few fish. There are also nice shaded areas under... More

With our Galapagos trip limited to just 8 days, we decided on a whistle stop 2 day stop off in San Cristobal and almost missed Peurto Chino - I'm so glad we didn't. It's without doubt one of the most stunning beaches I've ever visited. Two small pristine golden sandy beaches, perfect turquoise water and dozens of lazy sea lions... More

Galapagos is about no predators including us ! no fear ! this was the big thing I got from our 8 day trip, walk next to a sealion, a nesting blue footed booby, any marine or aquatic life not possible anywhere else, this picture is taken on Puerto Chino a hawk looking a baby sea lion not a metre away... Many animals are here, and at times people too. Mostly the tourists are not in big groups but come in private cars or with a taxi and guide. We rode there on bicycles which was hard work on the way there as there is a long hill. On the way you can stop at a beautiful fresh water lake where... More

This beach has sea-lions as well as people! Very secluded, you have to walk down a paved track for about 700 metres and you can sit on the sand or the grass or under a tree. The hill on the bay has blue-footed boobies.

Initially I was not thrilled with the length of the hike to the beach noted on he map at the head of the path as we had just finished a whole day hiking however it was so worth the hike to the beach. As we entered the beach area there were no less than 100 sea lions lying around. Lots... More

Puerto Chino has beautiful fine white sand, but limited near-shore life to see when snorkling. In good weather wading can be wonderful, but depending on the season the flies on the beach are a huge, painful, nuissance. It can get crowded during tourist rushes, or empty on slow days. It is very nearby the tortoise center - and a public... More
