- Angela AKuala Lumpur, Malaysia71 contributionsAmazing ViewWhen I heard about the number of steps I had to climb before I get to the top where the Christo Rei is, I was a bit discouraged but I challenged myself and went up the steps, I'm glad I did because the view from the top was great. Please visit early in the morning or late afternoon because the sun can be punishing. Good exercise and close to the beach.Visited February 2020Written 24 February 2020
- Nadya FKytín, Czech Republic9 contributionsNice morning walkIt was a nice morning walk and the way to spend Saturday morning for a weekend in the middle of a business trip. On Saturdays you can actually join WHO-organized walks from Dili to Cristo Rei and back. Has to be really early morning as even at 8 am in February it was quite hot.Visited March 2020Travelled on businessWritten 6 March 2020
- CKF2,201 contributionsBeautiful statue, beautiful views! We took a 1/2 day tour of Dili and Cristo Rei was our final stop. This imposing statue overlooks the ocean and is reminiscent of Christ the Redeemer in Rio. You will need to climb stairs to get to the top, but you can take it at a leisurely pace and examine the Stations of the Cross engravings along the way. Also, the views out to the beaches on both sides are quite lovely: the busy, roadside beach on your left as you ascend, and the quieter beach on your right. Certainly a well known landmark in Dili, and a must-see.Visited February 2020Written 1 March 2020

One of the must do activities in Dili. You can take a taxi (yellow fixed fee, or blue on the meter), which should cost around $7. You get dropped at the car park and then it’s around 15 minute walk up stairs to get to the top. Views are beautiful on a sunny day, and the statue itself is very nice indeed. No entry fee. Highly recommend!

Built by the Indonesians during their occupation apparently. Seen a few of these statues around the world. It does not get my attention..

As a cruise stop its uneventful and not much to see around it, most people visit the statue which is quite challenging with young kids but nice views.
Cool off on the beach afterwards which is nice though a bit rocky with local street sellers available for food and drinks. Cab back is around $5 don't be

I did not climb the stairs to the top but plenty of people do! Bring a hat if you plan to. Beach is relatively clean.

Cristo Rei is the second highest Jesus statue after Rio with 27m. hike in the morning to help yourself from a punishing Dili sun. but the sun behind the statue wont help you to snap a good photo, if thats the intention.
an interesting track to beach is available along the way. in a city where not much is happening, Cristo Rei should be the first and top priority to visit
