ACNJ BOARDWALK IS WHAT IT IS
Sep 2021 • Couples
Been coming down to ACNJ for over 40 years. 1st time was with my parents when I was a child. It has always had a seedy atmosphere, but it’s gotten worse in the last decade. Nowadays, hubby and I have stuck to the north end of the boardwalk and for the last several visits haven’t ventured past Hard Rock. Unfortunately, we did walk past last night. We won’t be doing that again. To be fair it was a Saturday night in September while it’s still warm so there were people everywhere (probably a good thing to have witnesses around.) Not only were the crowds on the boardwalk but every casino was packed. The crowds really didn’t bother us, because most people respected our space. It’s the people who came up to us and asked for money that really made us sick. Happened several times. Add that to the overwhelming odor of marijuana which permeates the entire area, the homeless living everywhere, the obvious drug abusers and alcoholics passed out, and it’s enough to make you say adios AC!I don’t expect there to be law enforcement officers on every corner, because that’s unrealistic. I’m sure they’re understaffed and overwhelmed dealing with all the crime occurring off the boardwalk. The police sirens wailing all evening long gave that fact away. If you’re looking to do a little gambling, have dinner and some drinks, go to a club, or take in a show, go for it, but be prepared to encounter some unsavory elements if you venture out of your casino/hotel onto that boardwalk. Don’t say you weren’t warned. It’s just the reality of AC. What the boardwalk really needs is for someone to pour gasoline down the entire length, then light a match. It would be an improvement! If we go back we’ll be staying at a hotel in the bay! Never ever again will we step foot on that boardwalk unless it gets a major makeover with the problems removed!

Complete Trash

Round up the drug addicts . Round up the street crawlers. Nasty trash people. Woman look like hookers whose fat was oozing out from all sides. People begging for money and low life scum bags are stumbling around. Never again will I go to that scum city again.

We were vacationing in Seaside Heights, NJ over the weekend. Decided to spend an afternoon in Atlantic city. We have never been and heard good things. Started at Ceasars and walked to the boardwalk. We went in the off season but man was it rough. The boardwalk itself was dirty, buildings falling apart, people selling/panhandling, and just over all not good. Shops were basic and the food was typical carnival food. Even apart of the boardwalk itself was broken. It got worse when the sun started to go down. I'm thankful it was just an afternoon (mostly in the casinos) and I didnt plan a whole vacation here. I also couldn't imagine bring children here. It's like the worst parts of Las Vegas and the worst parts of a beach town mixed together.

Disgusting, dirty beach with homeless people and drug addicts sleeping on the boardwalk at night.
Sep 2021 • Friends
Disgusting, dirty, so many people smoking dope on the boardwalk, homeless people laying on the boardwalk at night, panhandling is ridiculous and the boardwalk is extremely filthy. The sand on the beach looks black with cigarette butts and trash all over the beach. Homeless people living under the boardwalk. The people who live here need to be eradicated. Boardwalk is NOT safe at night. I do not recommend this place to anyone who is considering spending time or vacationing here. Go 2 hours south to Ocean City, Maryland!

Somewhere between Myrtle Beach and Vegas
Jun 2021 • Solo
I just moved to NJ and heard all about Atlantic City so I wanted to check out the world famous boardwalk. I’m not really sure what I expected….I guess being from the Carolinas I expected it to be something like Myrtle Beach but it wasn’t really like that at all. Mostly tacky souvenir shops and carnival food stands mixed in with casinos. Some of the casinos are neat and have cool flashy decor like Vegas. I also heard you have to try the Salt Water Taffy. It was really good! I bought a bag to take home. They have some cool restaurant options like Margaritaville and Wahlburgers. I really only visited during the day but I hear it can get rough at night. It’s a nice stroll if nothing else.

No Class rundown City and boardwalk.

Attended the Atlantic City airshow August 2021. The air show was nothing but spectacular. As far as the boardwalk, the run down casinos, the filthy streets, the skyrocketing prices of everything, and the poor disrespectful attitudes of the
law enforcement it has a lot to be desired. Trash cans overstuffed and the smell of marijuana overwhelming on the boardwalk. I was never so disgusted and disappointed in my life. I went by myself but I would encourage families with kids not to take them. If you have any morals you will have to do a lot of explaining. Even the greenery on the beach dunes was unkept and sloppy looking.
I honestly can't think of one good thing to say about my trip. Was so excited to get out for a day trip after being locked up for over a year due to covid.
Next year I will plan on seeing the airshow elsewhere because it sure as heck won't be in Atlantic City. The Dump on the East coast.

Needs some love
Aug 2021
Depends what you are looking for. Of course there are the casinos that line the boardwalk, and the boardwalk provides something something else to do if you dont want to just gamble the whole time. Plenty of shops and food along the way, as well as beach access. Needs some TLC, areas are very worn out, litter. The beach is free and the restroom are actually modern and clean, very nice. The sand though tends to have litter in areas, not well kept, and even broken glass (although glass isnt allowed.) Definitely better boardwalks and beaches on east coast, but if you want to check out the history, casinos, etc, it adds another dimension.

Tired
Aug 2021
The Atlantic City Boardwalk is so famous but it was a bit of a disappointment. No energy - dirty and tired. Lots of empty buildings. I hope it can experience a rebirth in the future.
