Booked a bus tour, which included LdG stop. Could have spent more time (only had 2 hours), as hike up is about 30-45 minutes and 20-30 down, depending on crowds. Beers & snacks at the top are a plus. Views are spectacular! China has Guilin & Yangshuo, Vietnam has Halong Bay, etc. Colombia has LdG - it's that kind of... More

There are many different activities to do at the lake, good for water sports, excellent food, great restaurants and bars; there is also a good hotel and resorts offer at Guatape.

This place is a reservoir of one of the Biggest hydroelectrical stations in Colombia. An entire town (El Penol) was moved and then flooded to make room for the reservoir which became a major tourist place. Go to Guatape to enjoy great food from the region, and Walk around the boardwalk there to see the beauty of this place

My husband and I have traveled the world, and we have never seen anything as spectacular as Laguna de Guatape! I highly recommend you go right before sunset. The photos we took at sunset were breathtaking! You do have to climb quite a few steps to get to the top, so it is not for the faint of heart, and... More

If you're in Medellin, don't miss this day trip. It's incredibly cheap and one of the most gorgeous views I've ever seen.

It depends off course where you go but off the beaten path you will get surprised by beautiful sights. The area is big. And specially when you go for something spectacular, be around 4pm at the place when you just leave the area to go to San Rafael. Why? The clouds coming in from the mountains which is a stunning... When in Medellin, you should strongly consider taking a day trip (or overnight trip) to Guatape. Our taxi driver provided the round trip service and gave us a ton of information along the way. There are many activities to do, it just depends on what you like. Personally, we signed up for an aerial view by helicopter - it was... More

This place is beautiful and you can spend there one or two days and enjoy traveling around. You have to climb the Peñón to have a 360 view

Great viewing spot. Must climb up the Penol rock. Little tough if you have altitude sickness issues other then that worth every step.
