This park has a split personality; on one hand there are the statues, which may not be to everyone’s taste, and on the other hand, this is a centre for Medellin’s red light district!

If you’re a fan of the artist you’ll love this place, the Botero museum is in the middle of the Plaza. You can relax with the bronze statues out in the Plaza and then enjoy all of his paintings inside. Don’t forget to rub the...More

I knew nothing about Botero before visiting Medellin. On my city walking tour, we went through Plaza Botero which is full of Botero sculptures - fun to look at and very picturesque.

Not the best neighborhood to get through but doing it during the day is fine. The collection is an amazing thing in a free public park. Some of his greatest works right there to touch! A must do visit.

Im sure Plaza Botero was originally thought as a very good idea to closely appreciate Botero’s art; however the surroundings of the plaza are not very nice (lots of homeless) and the cleaning of it are not that good.

Plaza Botero contains many large sculptures by the artist. Very safe location in what used to be a high crime area, a measure of how far the city has come as a tourist destination. Soldiers and police everywhere, very safe and secure. Wonderful sculpture garden...More
