Always a worthy stop in Colombia to see the gold museums. A free feature, learn some history about the region, Bogota has the most gold displayed, but I have enjoyed the museums in Santa Marta and here in Cartagena.

This museum offers interesting insights of the indigenous cultures of the area, with their gold work and their lifestyles. It also shows how in remote oars of Colombia the art and spirituality of Diogenes jewelry is met

The museum is small but is well worth a visit. The collection consists of Zenu gold and pottery with a few outstanding items. The admission is free.

Nice museum with interesting exhibits. This museum was much more than we were expecting and learned a lot. Especially loved seeing the artifacts, dioramas and informational videos

This museum was very disappointing and I’m using the word “museum” lightly. There’s only a few rooms of artifacts and a video viewing room with just music playing. The positives are it’s free, clean, well maintained and has good air conditioning. Otherwise, I would skip this museum.

Myself and a friend visited on a weekday in August. Free entry. Helpful, informative staff who speak fluent English. Exhibit information in Spanish and English. Wide range of exhibits including video information. Attractive and calm premises. Toilets. Lift. Shop on ground floor.

Well worth the time spent there viewing the pre-Columbian artifacts to include the Zenu culture gold exhibits and the musical relics. We were lucky enough to view the displays while accompanied by one of the staff anthropologists. He made the displays come alive when describing the creation and uses of the various artifacts. The artistic and technical skills of the ancient Zenu people are amazing. This is a can't miss spot to visit when visiting Cartagena.

Anyone who has been to the gold museum in Bogota will know this small museum does not provide the same experience as the superb Bogota offering and given the choice between the two museums, this is not the one we would choose. That said, it is worth a quick visit particularly for anyone who has visited the main museum in Bogota as a lot of the background information provided there aids understanding of the displays. Some of the video displays are also quite informative.
Free to enter but should not take more than 30 minutes.

This museum is pretty small, and there isn't much to it, but hey, unlike its more famous cousin in Bogota, this one is free. We had a hard time even finding the place because the entrance is pretty nondescript. You can see everything in about 10 minutes.
