We had such an amazing time. Can’t recommend this enough, it’s worth every penny! Not rushed, lots of food, and Sofia & Jonathan were friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a really unique and special experience.

This is a phenomenal tour. Luis REALLY knows his birds. He picked me up from my hotel very early and we went to Matute nature reserve about 40 mins out of Cartagena. Luis is exceptional at identifying birds, and he kept an e-bird list to share with me afterwards, plus took photos that he also very generously shared. We stopped a couple of times: for a coffee, and later a local breakfast at the homestead (which is heaven). As well as birds, (Pygmy owl, toucan, hummingbirds, whooping motmot- 44 species altogether) we saw howler monkeys, cotton top tamarins, sloths, frogs and butterflies.
After it got a bit hot we did some “birding-by-car” and saw another 30 species, including Northern Screamers, lots of herons and egrets, savanna hawk, and a yellow-headed blackbird. It was the greatest day of birding.

My partner and I were lucky enough to go bird watching with Luis (of Horses Cartagena) - and it was truly one of our favorite things we did on our entire vacation. We are new to birdwatching, but Luis showed us the ropes -- and pointed out so so so many beautiful birds. Also: sloths, monkeys, dragonflies, and frogs. Luis picked us up in at 5AM - we felt safe and comfortable with him immediately; it's clear he's a total pro. His English is perfect but he'll also speak slowly and clearly if you want to practice your Spanish (thanks, Luis). The Matute preserve is a privately owned farm about 30-45 minutes from Getsamani, but you feel a world away - especially once you start hiking off the road a little. We really loved our breakfast with Cele, the owner of Matute -- my partner maintains it was his favorite of our trip. Besides looking at the animals, it was so nice just talking to Cele and Luis and hearing about their lives. I will treasure this experience for a long time. Thanks, Luis.

Oh, what a birding trip with Luis. We had several lifers especially in Minca, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Agricola Camelias, and El Ceibal, Santa Catalina. My target birds where the Puffbirds, Manakins, and Pygmy Owl. I love them and thanks to the best bird guide LUIS!!!! Bravo! Hoping to see you again in the near future.

This was such an amazing experience! It was only my boyfriend and I with Luis and his daughter Maria, they are so kind and personable. They really go above and beyond in every aspect, Luis asked us if we ate breakfast and when we said no he stopped and bought us a Colombian breakfast. The horses were beautiful and well cared for. Maria took amazing pictures of us with her camera as well. The whole experience was one that we will never forget all thanks to Luis and Maria, highly recommend this if you are looking for something more personal!

Our tour was not listed because we asked for a custom built walking tour of Cartagena. Horses Cartagena delivered a fantastic result and introduced us to our personal guide for the entire day; King Felipe!
I don’t know where to begin but he has energy for days, passion in the very rich history of Cartagena and was thrilled to answer questions for us, be our photographer for the day, and show us local spots we never would have found otherwise.
But that’s not all, King Felipe delivered a very personal experience, he got to know us as people ( and us him), and delivered all the very small nuanced details in great fashion.
Of course we saw the Castle of San Felipe ( recommend morning as it gets hot!), many cathedrals, universities, and historic homes and museums. We got insider access we would never have gotten without his guidance and partnership with locals. He was patient and helped us shop for the specific art we were looking for and helped get it at the right price. Of course we saw a sloth and baby, learned to call birds, and learned how salsa dance( just a little!)
Lunch recommendation was excellent; and we ended in a better spot than cafe Del Mar for sunset enjoying ice cream together.

My suggestion if you want a deep tour of Cartagena, tell Horses Cartagena what you want to do.
King Felipe really showed us why he is king today; by delivering over and above as a leader! Well done!

To start I was exceptionally pleased with the easy method to book the trip. Luis and company did fantastic work to answer all of my questions ahead of time explain the insurance and easily pay them.
Sophia was our guide, on time, very professional but personal as well. Vehicle was very clean and in great running order. We learned about local history and answered all of our many many questions throughout the day.
An excellent breakfast at the family home, very personal feeling, and tasty!
Immediately to the boat and we got the history of the canal being built.
The boat captain Gabriel is a gem, he spotted all kinds of unique things we wouldn't see otherwise; turtles and Portuguese man-o-war. He snorkeled to get the best time for fish based on his experience and there were many.
My only suggestion to improve the trip; swim fins to go along with snorkel.
Was the boat ride bumpy yes, but was expected for the windy conditions. Gabriel purposefully navigated to minimize the bumpiness effect, much better than the overcrowded party boats.

Off to the private beach area which was beautiful, other tour groups came and went but we had the best selection. Good lunch, chicken is offered as well if you don’t like seafood.
We wanted to learn about the history of the small town we were in. Sophia was gracious enough to show us around. A custom walk through the village and then again in Baru let us meet local artisans. She really let us guide what we wanted to do throughout the day.

Then we made a special request for an additional day custom tour and they were able to make it just for us to go see and learn about local Cartagena history and sites, including arranging for sunset at Cafe Del Mar.

I highly recommend this group they are caring about your experience being exceptional and caring for investing in their local community. Speak up and they will happily help you have a great day
Nice job Horses Cartagena keep up the exceptional work!
