With colourful buildings and flowers in pots on colonial balconies, architectural details and cobble stone streets the ‘Centro historico’ area is a great place to take pictures. There were several women and their daughters wearing folk dresses in the colours of Colombia and walking around with fruit baskets on their heads. Understandably, they wanted money to have their pictures taken, but it makes for interesting photos and we don’t see that in Canada!

Filled with history, art, sculpture, fine dining to its colorful architecture and of course friendly and accommodating people! This is the must see city of Colombia. The culture runs deep and so does its attractions. From the ancient castle. To the “Fat Lady” sculpture to the street performers and vendors on the street. To the amazing and colorful buildings throughout the walled city. The duality between the mod#rn in the downtown and shorelines areas to the ancient Walled City environment...Caartagena is and historic marvel!

The historical center is very interesting where you can find almost everything - bars, cafes, restaurants, shops... When looking for some shop you will be offered help from random salesmen who will eventually get money from the restaurant they bring you in and yes, you will be paying for that. The price can rise up to 100% of your bill. My recommendation is to find your place of interest yourself. Man needs to be careful here. The whole center is very nice though and is worth to visit it.

This area is so charming! Lots of beautiful architecture, shops, and cafes to see, along with walking on the city walls. If the vendors are too much for you, you might consider taking a walking tour with a guide in order to see more without being bothered. Or going early in the morning is another great option. Don't miss the candy street market right behind the clock tower - it's so cute!

You absolutely have to walk in the city center and along the streets to admire the magnificent houses from the colonial and republican periods, but the experience is made unpleasant by the constant harassment of sellers of tourist products. To enjoy bearable heat, go early in the morning or in the evening when the breeze is up and reserve the hottest period for air-conditioned restaurants and museums. Apart from the busiest places, there are many very pleasant little streets in which markets, and unlike Getsemani, with the universities and the many administrations present, there is still a non-tourist life.

It seems to me! The last straw! The fact that horses are still used in carriages for a tourist tour remains in the Middle Ages. Please, for the sake of the animals, prohibit that. How many documentaries do we have to make about this to show the abuse of animals?

The city of Cartagena, known as the Walled City, has been and continues to be an important destination in the history of Colombia. It stands out for its well-preserved historic center, its access to the Caribbean islands, its delicious cuisine and its pleasant climate. It is a place that attracts national and international tourists for its charm and beauty.

Yeah, the old colonial homes are photogenic but the endless hucksterism of virtually everyone is a pain on the ass. You can’t walk two steps without someone shoving a menu, a tacky hat or some other piece of garbage in your face. It gets old really, really fast.

Lots and lots of small streets with shops, clubs and restaurants on them, teeming with delightful people. We stopped a bunch of times for nibbles and even bought hair products there! Incredibly friendly people all over and we felt safe at all times. A great afternoon out while in Cartagena!

The walled historic centre of Cartagena is an absolute delight. Full of wonderful colonial buildings, leafy plazas and stunning churches the walls themselves are fantastic to walk along with great sea views and a cooling breeze.
The clock tower marks the main entrance, best thing is to just wander the colourful streets knowing that no mater where you go you'll eventually hit the defensive walls and find your way back.
One of the most beautiful towns in South America in my opinion.

Hola, claro que puedes!! el clima es muy caluroso y húmedo por lo que la playa viene bien, todo dependerá de la cantidad de días que tengas para aprovechar al máximo ya que Cartagena es muy linda y tiene un montón de lugares para conocer.
